So if you didn't have to do it Corporates way... What would you air?

Like the subject says... If you could do any Format in Oklahoma City, Had no corporate programmers jamming bad ideas your way, What would you do?

HSF

I would like to see an alternative rock station and a full-market urban or rhythmic station in OKC. Both formats would no doubt work in this market, though they may not bill as high as another classic rocker or FM sports talk.

I'd bring back Jack FM and put it on 100,000 watt station and it would sound very similar to the one in Dallas. I'd also do an Alternative rock format.

Alternative rock is a format most cities can support and most wish that OKC had, yet it doesn't. And everytime it has been tried, it has failed. Why is that?

Alternative Rock has failed in OKC several times. I remember 94.7 the BUZZ I think.. Great signal, poor ratings and poor revenue. As much as we have all complained about Corporate radio, I figured we would have more ideas...

Simply put, CC was too cheap with running 94.7, time and time again. Then, at one point, it was ran by a clueless buffoon that couldn't program an alarm clock, let alone a 100000 watt radio station. That's certainly NOT Jimmy or J-Rod. Both of them are talented and could have done much better given the rights and resources they needed to take it further. On a good note, it seems Mr. Baker is making progress with the station. Given some time and resource, he will do miracles for them. With KRXO turning into a hair dryer on a 1000ft tower, the time is better than ever to make 94.7 a viable contender again.

I was wondering the same thing... All the post I have seen with complaints about corporate push downs, no live people in the studio and etc...
I suppose the corporate programmers are better than we thought?

I'm hesitant to give a corporate programmer any credit for anything good, although I'm sure that there's at least one who may do an acceptable job.

I'd like to have a 'religious' talk show time slot and invite the extremists to be on the air so I could listen to their babble. Then I'd introduce special guests, maybe atheists, to liven things up a bit. It could be like the jerry springer show on the radio, except ALL of my guests would be actors, playing the part of the religious fanatics instead of real people like they have on the springer show. The whole show would be a complete farse, and people would wearing their phones out trying to call to disagree or to tell our guests how stupid they are because of their beliefs or non-beliefs.

This reminds me of the time I asked the question, how many of each animal did God tell Moses to take on the ark? Countless numbers of people got mad when they answered '2' and I told them they were wrong and hung up on them.

The toe is ready to rock and roll.

The bible says 2. How can the bible be wrong?

Nevermind, I can't believe I fell for that one. I would have deleted my last post to save myself some embarrassment but it won't let me delete.

Truth is, I lied. I never used that line on the radio. I heard someone use it though awhile back. People got very angry when they were told they were wrong when they guessed 2. Just goes to show you how little people really pay attention. Yet our ratings are dependant upon those same listeners to write down the day and time and the station they listened to. Scary.

The toe has confessed.
