So long "Beatles Block at Noon" along with "New York's Classic Rock" slogan on Q104.3

Well, this is the end for "The Beatles Block at Noon" by Mon.-Fri. along with "New York's Classic Rock" slogan on Q104.3.

After 29 Years, "New York's Classic Rock" is now "New York's Rock Station" or "Q104.3 Rocks New York" slogan.

So what do you think? Maybe keep the classic rock station format or maybe just rock's greatest hits? It's up to your choice.

In point of fact, there are no other rock stations in NYC. So they can claim the title. No need for the qualifier. It's now where rock lives.

In addition, they have, on occasion, played current songs by the Rolling Stones and The Beatles.

Q104.3 had given up the "New York's Classic Rock" slogan and became "New York's Rock Station" several months ago. I heard this over Thanksgiving when visiting family for the holiday. However, to this day, the website still used "New York's Classic Rock." So much for consistency.

Dropping the Beatles' Block must be a more recent change. I've also noticed more '90s and early 2000s titles being added and a slight veer toward a more pop-rock sound -- Q104.3 seems to be becoming more aligned with iHeart's "classic rock" model.

How many rock stations in general still play it.

Per Mediabase, year-end tally for 2025, Classic Rock format:

Men At Work songs: 9,894 spins across all songs played.
Midnight Oil: 2,672

Beatles: 67, 166

I also dispute your simplified description of 80's rock. There was a lot between those two genres going on.

Was alternative a thing in the 80s as a format. The genera wasn’t as fragmented as it is today. You had glam rock or hair metal that took a huge chunk of the mainstream. European rock that would be more pop format than rock. Heavy metal wasn’t really getting mainstream play.

Where would The Police fit in. Punk rock?

KROQ.
XETRA (91X).
KITS (Live 105).
WOXY (97X).

And The Police got their first real exposure on those early Alternative stations, which the late Rick Carroll dubbed "Rock of the 80's" when he created the format on KROQ.

Were the police more popular on AC or rock stations.
