So Sad To See What's Become Of WBYE Calera

I was traveling through that area, last Friday and saw some of the letters and numbers on the building falling down. The sign on the pole was badly faded. The tower still stands but I didn't see a light flashing on it. That facility looks awful now.

P.S. I wonder how much longer that building will continue to stand, before someone does something about it. Hate to see fall down completely and become one big mess on that side of Highway 25. Wish you could bring that station back, Mr. Pass and do some Gospel tunes on it. I might could help you snag a FM relay for the broadcast, if you were to ever entertain the idea.

RDP, I imagine at some point that Progressive United Communications will sell the land and tower; the broadcast license was canceled in April of 2012. Yes, very sad for me seeing WBYE fall by the wayside, too, since my dad was a DJ there in the early 70s and he was the person who painted and erected the sign that now lies in disrepair. My dad and I were both in contact with Progressive in 2012 about possibly buying WBYE if we were able to have the license reinstated, but they did not express any interest in selling the station after several attempts of speaking with them about it. At this point, five years later, the FCC would not reinstate the license, anyway. We had considered pairing the station with an FM translator, but that was all moot anyway, since Progressive seemed apathetic about all of it.
