So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

When I have gotten sick of the "Holiday" music, my radio seems to be tossing between Magic 106.7 and Radio 92.9. Haven't been listening to Mix or WZLX lately for some reason.

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

While driving, 100FM The Pike since I live in Worcester County and listen to them anyway. Their sister station, 98-9 WORC-FM, also went all-Christmas over the Thanksgiving weekend.

I also have a favorite online station that I'm listening to alot lately when I'm in front of the computer (like right now) and that's www.kickradio.nl which is out of the Netherlands and plays 80s and 90s hits. I've listened to them on and off for a couple of years.

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

I never listen to either station anyway. WBOQ from Beverly is a much better station for "Oldies" if you can still call them that.

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

Where I live now, I can still get WBOQ, but not nearly as well as before. :-\

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

WBCN Free Form Rock....Via my smartphone. I will probably go all Christmas

next week .... but only either 181.FM or Ipod. Way too narrow playlists on the local radio stations.

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

I put WFHN & WKAF in place of WODS & WROR-FM. Now with WCIB all Xmas as well, I may have to put WHJY begrudingly on there. All Christmas or All-Nickelback? 12 F.M. presets are too many. At this point, I could more easily fill 12 A.M. presets! (Seriously, I've had to take WSAR off to make room for WGN).

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

Thank God for the low end of the FM dial and the fact that, unlike others, I can happily exist outside the musical mainstream for a few weeks!

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

WROR when I wake up, On My way to work, Mix 104.1, 92.5 The River, in Dorchester area "Big City 101.3" , at work (weekday work) Magic 106.7 (not by Choice) It's on all throughout the building and many offices.
On My way home, same stations
At home later on "Mia 1430", WEEI, and WRKO

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

I reluctantly returned to sports radio at mid-day. As it's turning out I'm not listening at all much of the time. Both sports stations are horrendous from 10-2. How anyone can listen to Gresh scream for four hours is beyond me. Muttnansky still comes across as the Audio/Visual club nerd who's trying to fit in with the "cool kids". Someone has to take him aside and tell him that he's not a comedian and never will be.

Dale Arnold was something of a nerd, but he had an extensive, multiple sport, play-by-play background that gave him a lot of credibility............and he didn't try to be a comedian. Mutnansky reminds me of Larry Johnson with an education and no awful Boston accent.

ON-LINE
WLS-FM/94.7, Chicago ("Dick Biondi LIVES!"), oldies
KRTH HD-2/101.1 ("K-Earth Classics"), Los Angeles, 50's-60's oldies
WXRB-FM 95.1/Dudley, MA ("The Golden 95.1"), 50's, 60's and 70's oldies

SATELLITE (Sirius/XM)
50's on 5
60's on 6
70's on 7
Radio Classics
CNN

OTA
WBOQ/104.9, Gloucester, MA, ("North Shore 104.9") nice playlist of 50's, 60's and 70's oldies

IMHO- All-Christmas might be great for both the radio and retail business, but at the end of the day (as a radio consumer)........ I cannot handle the overload of holiday music. It's overkill. It's good to know there are alternatives in place! :)

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

Hence on my own blues show I only played occasional Christmas songs (like a funky new one from Dan Hicks, Carol of the Bells). For every B.B. King "Back Door Santa" there were maybe 4-5 non-Christmas
songs. I even threw in stuff like Irish Rovers Grandma Got Run Over and Stan Freberg's I'm Getting
Nuttin' for Christmas...

Curious if ODS or ROR are playing Roomful of Blues "White Christmas", Charles Brown's "Merry Christmas
Baby" (rather than the Eagles' remake) etc...Though we may do all Christmas shows around the holiday
incl. Christmas morning itself.

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

KBCO and KINK streams.

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

Anyone who misses WROR's regular format can hear the music on their HD2. They moved it there through Christmas.

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

The Eclectic Picnic. Sundays, 2-4PM on WATD.

No Stinkin' Holiday Tunes!

Re: So, What Are You Listening To While Both "Classic Hits" Stations Are All Xmas?

MP3 CD's in the truck, home automation system at home. Don't get me wrong... I like about 15 minutes of Christmas music but I think it's a slap in the face to listeners to just up and say "we're changing programming and you'll like it". I've bitched to 'ROR and I got a "kind" reply that it's the listeners choice. BS.... I like the Pike.....The only saving grace is the morning teams have to put up with the seasonal music till 12/26.....HAHA. There is justice..

How do you account for the bump in the ratings that all-Christmas stations get every year if it isn't what listeners want? Surely it's not all the fault of PPM devices being worn my shoppers, is it? Those tired old seasonal standbys seem to work just fine for the non-radio-obsessed 99 percent.
