So what do you think of the NEW 102.5 Boney Talk

I haven't noticed any major changes in The Eagle's playlist. It sounds like the same crap they've been playing all along. Same goes for 97X. The only change in music programming at Cox that I've noticed has been at The Bone. I've noticed that their new overnight playlist includes many songs I never heard them play before. 98 Rock has definitely made some adjustments in the last week. I wonder how long before they finally get around to adding new music on 97X/The Eagle.

Nope.. 102.5 is still playing the same crap they overplayed in past few years. They adjusted their playlist to be more 90s-2009 a couple years ago or so... but I checked last nights playlist and it's same old thing.. not 1 song is different.

98Rock..still same .. maybe a couple more classic song but they still don't play New Music.. only stuff that has been out many months or the best "New Popular Bands" songs they will debut.. they still stay recurrents and overplayed stuff of the 90s-00s

97X is still the same old crap that get no ratings in any category. I wish they would flip that station and go "Active Rock" and beat out 98 in New Music like KHTQ rock945.com does a great playlist.

102.5's music HAS changed overnight. I have heard them play stuff they NEVER played before. I'm not sure where they're getting their music from now, or if they're still being programmed locally, but I definitely have heard different music overnight on The Bone.

I've listened to The Bone on and off ever since they signed on. I've tuned in to The Bone twice at night since they've changed formats, and both times I heard them play music they never played before.

Looking at yes.com, it only proves my point... The Bone never used to play Aerosmith's Train Kept A Rollin', they also didn't play Queensrÿche's Empire, AC/DC's Money Talks, or Jet's Are You Gonna Be My Girl... I could keep going down the list. I don't know what station you were listening to before, but if you heard these songs on the radio, it wasn't on The Bone... and I'm pretty sure 98 Rock doesn't play these songs either...

Actually 97X has gone more 90's/00's Grunge/Alt. heavy, and widened the playlist a touch, so there have been some changes there. Still playing current rock, just not quite as much of it as before, with the bigger current hits still in high rotation (in classic Cox fashion).

Eagle hasn't changed at all (no reason to with those numbers...)

As for KHTQ, (a market #94 rock station with no competition that went from a 6.2 share to a 3.4 within a year), not exactly something to aspire to.

I've heard them play all them songs before.... nothing new...

On Obtuse and KHTQ... their classic rock station got a great morning drive show about a year ago.. talk shows will rule over music... example.. 102.5 before Bubba-Cowhead.. and TBH it don't matter what size the market is.. it's your target audience.. 18-34 they are still #1 in Men and Women #2 in Men 34-49.. unless your talk radio... guys in their mid 30s stop listening to music on the radio and go more for talk radio or sports radio

Two things.

Scott, I'm not calling you a liar, but I'm telling you this. Back when I worked in the field as an engineer, we didn't have any satellite radio or cd player... so we logged A LOT of hours listening to the bone, and I never heard any one of those songs I mentioned before. I heard a whole lot of other songs repeated over and over and over and over until I was nauseous, but I never heard those songs... ever.

And to Obtuse, I agree that looking at the numbers, the Eagle shouldn't have to change anything... except for one thing. The bone directed all of its former classic rock listeners to go to the Eagle to get their classic rock fix, and the Eagle hasn't been incorporating much of anything that the bone used to play... a big mistake in my opinion. As much as I loathe CC as a company, I think 98 Rock is doing a much better job of attracting former bone music listeners... I'm out.

I know Cedric.. just stating I haven't heard much of a change. They do every once in awhile throw a new curve ball in and put 3-4 new songs in from the same bands. .. Like they never use to play Poison or Skid Row and even Bon Jovi much but they have now over the past year or so. So they do throw some songs in. Only song I'm not sure I heard before was the Aerosmith song but I have heard the others on the Bone. I agree with you on your comments about 98Rock trying to attrack the Bone listeners with more classic rock while the Eagle is trying to do the same for the music 34-49 listener :)

I love the dirt rockers. In my head, the guys screaming for Poison and Warrant in 2012 are the same guys who were following the van around in the 90's for a free t-shirt or CD, driving their primer Camaro, mullets in full bloom and a slight odor of cheap beer on their breath.

How I miss the good old days.
