So, what happens with KISS-FMs morning show?

Very sad to hear about Kidd's passing. And as unfortunate as it is...the station has to continue to make money and from tragedy sometimes comes opportunity. And I'm sure KISS's management are mulling over their options even today.

What will happen to the show? Will KISS-FM eliminate the show and go all music?

Will they keep the core players intact and give the show to one of the other show members?

Or will they bring in another syndicate show?

I think it is really too soon to speculate. That said, why not keep the crew intact and add a new main host. Perhaps move Jagger over from Now to KISS. He is an excellent broadcaster and has experience hosting his own show. Just a thought. RIP Kidd! :'(

I'm wondering this too. Kidd's passing is so sudden, I imagine everyone is just in shock. It seemed like they were grooming J-Si and Jenna to be the next generation of the show, but let's face it, they're not ready to take the helm. (Especially marblemouth Jenna...) When Kidd was out for mouth surgery a while back, Kellie, Al, and J-Si took turns heading the show, and it was okay, but just not the same. I don't see the show lasting long without him.

I also wonder what they'll do tomorrow. Surely they won't expect the crew to do a live memorial show, but a Best Of show might be awkward or in poor taste. Skipping it altogether and playing music also seems insensitive. I really don't know. It's all very sad.

I honestly have no clue...this is such a sudden and devastating loss that I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't on air at all for a week or two.

None of that crew stands out as a leader, but if they keep the crew together odds are they can keep their listeners together. Stick Jagger in there with current cast until either that sticks or they find a replacement? Nikki Sixx/David Lee? Bobby Bones is the obvious for syndicate, but that's REAL risky. When Howard Stern left, the entire thing imploded. It even killed Russ Martin bc he lost Howard to draft off.

Not to mention all those affiliates in the network. You bet your ass their in meetings today, this is a HUGE ordeal for numerous stations. There is no heir apparent. I think Gordon Keith would be great!

^Very likely scenario. Just checking Elvis Duran's Twitter too, he hasn't even mentioned anything about Kidd's death either so maybe he's been in emergency around-the-clock meetings with CC.

I don't see how the KKITM show can keep going long-term. Obviously it was Kidd's show but he had such a big hand in everything that you can't replace that. And there's no way they just insert a new host with the rest of the cast...I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Too big of shoes to fill and you know people will never be satisfied.

Sadly, this could be the end indeed.

I really really hope the show continues, with the remaining 4 hosting it under a new name. Something like "Bright and Early Morning Show" or something like that. This is the BEST situation I can think of for them.

But if they were to really dissolve, then expect a new locally oriented Kiss FM Show for DFW. The rest of the KKITM affiliates will probably either concede to The Bert Show, Elvis Duran, or John Jay and Rich in this situation. Not only that expect also Kellie, Big Al, J-Si, and Jenna to perhaps join one of those shows not only to keep making money for a living, but to maintain the KKITM audience.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the syndicator will temporarily air best-of Kraddick shows.

I wonder if this is something that the likes of Clear Channel/Premiere Networks (and Cumulus as well) actually think about, as a broader issue. With the push to syndicate a lot of programming, what happens when trouble strikes? If the rumour is true that the syndicator is looking at "best of's", that is just bad taste.

I completely disagree. What better way to remember Kidd than to run some of his best bits and remind everybody why he was so successful. Plus, they will need to run something on Monday morning and a 5-hour memorial to Kidd might work for one day, but what to do the rest of the week? I figure they'll do 2 weeks of "best of" and then the show will be canceled. They'll need to give affiliates time to find a new morning show. The rest of his crew aren't strong enough to carry the show.

my guess is "best of" for next week highlighting the charity work
Kelly, Al, Jenna, J Si the next week
maybe celebs calling in doing a sort of guest host

then pipe it in

I know KISS Dallas will feel the hurt ratings wise with anyone besides Kidd at the helm

Jagger doesn't seem likely to me coming from Live and Edge to Mix. Just a weird path but who knows.

Kiss FM is currently doing a good job this weekend of having listeners call in to remember Kidd and share their stories. IMO they should do more this for the 1st show tomorrow morning. Later in the week, it will probably evolve into more of the "Best Of" and re-air some favorite moments/clips. You could probably pull that off for perhaps the following week with a lot of pre-recorded material. However, I would think by mid-August they will have to start rebranding the show.

Elvis Duran could be a possibility. He's from Richardson....(started up at KIKM in Sherman many years ago)
He has a syndicated show out of New York.

I expect in the worst case scenario if the show were to get cancelled, try replacing it with a more local flavor.

There's also unconfirmed reports that a few affiliates do plan to drop the show if it gets "rebranded" (which is keep Kellie, Big Al, Jenna, J-Si but rename the show). This might not be a good situation for any option now.

Has anyone heard if Dish Nation will do any memorials for Kidd? RIP Kidd.

Heard on the news last night that they will.

They should have named the station "106.1 Kidd FM" for the day....
