So, you wanna own your own Radio station, here's one for you "cheap"!

Everybody who has ever been in radio has always wanted to own their own station and nation wide there are many to choose from, AM's FM's, you name it, but here's one that will no doubt fit your budget. Although this station was recently offered to folks on the Orlando Board in time for Christmas, subsequently there were no interested takers. Please feel free to click the link below and take the full-color pictorial tour of what could possibly be your next new radio station or one more to add to your chain of stations, remember, no reasonable offer will be refused.....! They'll even through in the cart's and records.....

OMG. It probably violates about 1,000 different regulations of 10 or 15 different government agencies... I think I was almost electrocuted just looking at the pix.

After a careful, keen eyed look over of the pictures I have come to the conclusion that WSLM stood for "SLUM RADIO".

OMG. David is right. And the Hoarders remark is right on. But here's a question for David to clarify. Technically, when a station is purchased, you're not purchasing the physical building or its contents, or equipment, but the rights to the license.

So once an individual versed in broadcasting real estate would go over the particulars, one could buy this dump for the purpose of acquiring the license, but go out and construct a new facility...with new studios, equipment and transmitter.

In these type of sales, and considering this station's condition, would the FCC allow a new owner to put this station dark while a new facility was constructed? Since purchasing and rebuilding would be in the public interest, would that be possible?

So I guess the short version is...you can buy the license right and the land...and tell the owner no thanks on the rest of it and the price could be adjusted (reduced) since you're not buying the contents.

Thanks for answering....

LOL'in out loud with Stuart. Slum Radio, classic. Funny thing is, I know of two radio stations here in Florida that looked exactly like that...with a PD's and OD's whose personalities were of the Hoaders variety. I think we've all worked at least one dump in our travels...you have to love radio to work with rats and roaches...

We can see where some of our more trident and true Miami radio professional's are showing an abounding interest in the station of the week. Each and everyone of your qualified responses and comment's were indeed well thought out as to how one can handle the evolutionary qualities of WSLM..... We look forward to further responses and to thank you in advance from the heart's of our bottom's for your continuing support, after all, we can see where this make's each and everyone of you the true Miami radio broadcast professional's that you are!

Coverage maps show that both the AM and the FM perfectly avoid reaching any ppl; they are even in the wrong Salem.
The lawn by the satellite dishes appears to be neatly groomed.

There is a TV station (LPTV) somewhere in the building too. Probably under the carts.
