Song that aired on 14X Rebel Radio (1990-1991)

Hey all,

I hate to hop on here and ask for assistance, but I've been trying to hunt down this song for years now, to no avail.

The only place I ever heard it was on 14X (I'm here in Buffalo), a few times -- the chorus sounded like, "Come a-LONG! dippy doo, doo-doo doo-doo-doo!" The sound of it is fading in my head, but judging by the radio station and time period, I'm thinking maybe it was hair/glam metal? Since the station ended Sept of 1991 (according to the internet), it had to be released before then. I've been searching so many combinations of so many words and looking up album releases, etc, that I have no idea if I have the right words. But this chorus is what made a family member and I laugh so hard the song became an inside joke. I initially thought it was "Come Along" by Salty Dog, but there's nothing resembling "dippy doo" in it.

Could it have been a local release? Even including Canada (which we get some of down here)?

I even have a horrible clip of me singing what I remember:

So... I'm asking for help from locals. I'm really hoping someone else remembers this song.

Thank you. :)

Was the singer male or female? It sort of reminds me of a song where they kept saying "Stay in time..." that sounded a lot like Cheap Trick. But I thought that was older, maybe 1980.

Hmm... I wasn't sure if I found what you were referring to. A group called Off Broadway comes up from around that time period, but it wasn't the song. At least it's giving me something new to look for, thanks!

I found a name through Wiki entries you might try to track down...

Ted Shredd - co-host. Born in Elgin, Ill. Worked at KHTZ Lake Tahoe/ Reno, Nevada, in Buffalo produced the Taylor and Moore Show on WPHD and The Bearman Show at WUFX. Also on air at the Heavy Metal Rebel Radio 14X WXBX, and WGIR Manchester, NH. Then Returned to WUFX Buffalo.

Ted Shredd, the afternoon drive DJ on 14X, would go on to work at WEDG (103.3 The Edge) as part of the popular Shredd and Ragan show. In 1991 the station began simulcasting sister station WUFX (which would become WEDG), and in 1993 the call letters changed to WWWS.

Ted Shredd and Tom Ragan are hosts of The Shredd and Ragan Show a talk radio show on WEDG. The show also features James, Josh Potter, producer Jim Jacka and assistant producer Josh Potter.. The show broadcasts to Buffalo, Toronto and Southern Ontario and is heard weekday mornings from 6am to 10am.

On January 4, 2012, it was announced that Shredd and Ragan would be moving back to mornings starting January 9, 2012.

Maybe this "Ted" guy can help?

Kind of a quaint post! Either PirateJohnny's tongue is firmly planted in cheek, or he has no idea about how big this "Ted" guy and his broadcast partner are in Buffalo.

I live in Tennessee. I saw this post as an "unread post since my last visit". I Googled the lyrics and found this question on about a dozen different boards, so I Googled the station and saw that this Ted guy might have played the song in question. I would bet that Lumekuninganna probably doesn't remember the DJs on 14X. Couldn't hurt to ask him.

It's a slow night here.

You guys are good at research. XD You're right, I don't remember the DJs from 14X, but I did find the same thing. I grew up with Shredd and Regan on 103.3 (back when they were The Fox!). Actually, I posted a message on his Facebook, which I'm sure went nowhere. Not sure how else to contact him, as he is kind of a local celebrity.
