Songs taken off playlists during the Coronavirus saga

I remember hearing it on WASL 100.1 in Dyersburg, TN, who was Hot AC at the time, but did have some country crossover as well. I also remember hearing Shameless.

When I say a song didn't chart pop or AC, I mean that it didn't appear in any of the national charts. For that to happen, a radio station needed to report that it played the song back in the day. Only chart reporters were tabulated. Astation in Dyersburg TN probably didn't report their airplay to national charts. So it's possible some small AC stations in country-dominant markets in Tennessee or North Carolina played his songs. But because they didn't report to national charts, we have no documented record of it. What we can see is that if none of the major AC stations played it, the record label didn't promote it to pop or AC stations.

It seems silly to scrutinize song lyrics that might be offensive because of COVID 19. "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen would be inappropriate if a DJ tried to make a virus joke about it. Songs themselves should not be offensive.

Van Morrison wrote the harrowing "T.B. Sheets". It's a powerful song based on a real tuberculosis victim he knew. That's not likely to show up on any commercial radio playlists though. Some people like Gallows Humour in times like these...
