SONGS YOU CAN NAME USED IN DICKIE GOODMAN AND BUCHANAN AND GOODMAN RECORDS

I don't know how much of a challenge this will be but, be aware that a number of these records never charted such as Schmonanza, James Bomb, Flying Saucer '64 and various others. There are about 40 Dickie Goodman and Buchanan And Goodman records. The records were made between the years of 1956-1989 when Dickie Goodman committed suicide. Also, don't forget Banana Boat Story which had pieces of 1957 commercials in it.

Well I'll give it a shot:

Flying Saucer Pt 1 & 2
Flying Saucer Goes West
The Touchables
Berlin Top Ten
Ben Crazy
Santa And The Satellite Pts 1 & 2
Buchanan & Goodman on Trial
Batman's Grandmother
On Campus
Energy Crisis 74
Watergate
Kong
Mr Jaws
Super-Duper Man
Radio Russia
Return Of The Jedi Returns
Washington In-side out

That's not the question I was asking. Name every song snippet and artist used in every Dickie Goodman and Buchanan And Goodman record.

Ben Crazy:

PT 109--Jimmy Dean
Palasades Park--Freddy Cannon
Shout Shout--Ernie Maresca
Playboy--Marvelettes
Keeps Right On Hurtin--Johnny Tillotson
Al Di La--Emilio Periconi

And the best part "Old Rivers" by Walter Brennan recurring through the entire record.

What about a REAL challenge? Naming everything mentioned in Reunion's "Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)"

I have the sheet music with the lyrics so it would be easy. There is also an extra verse on a Rhino cd which wasn't on the 45 which means even more groups and references.

I only recall the first few seconds of "Mr. Jaws":

Dickie: "We are here on the beach where a giant shark has just eaten a girl swimmer. Well, Mr. Jaws, how was it?"
Bazuka: "Dynomite!"
Dickie: "And what did she say before you ate her?"
Olivia Newton-John: "Please Mr., Please..."

And I think the closing gag used "I will, I will, I will..." from the Captain & Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together."

When I was in college, the history/poli sci department sponsored a "We Didn't Start the Fire" contest in which we not only had to identify everything listed in the song, we had to explain its political/historical significance. Since I already had a copy of the lyrics from a recent article in USA Today, the first part of that contest was already done for me. Since I was a poli sci major, I had an interest in knowing the second anyway. The prize was $50, and I was a co-winner of the contest. Had there been a tie-breaker, I would have won outright, since I turned in my entry before the other student, but she had hers in before the deadline as well. (I still have my contest entry, along with the lyrics and everything else, including the other students' entries, some of which were quite humorous.)

I remember thinking that if the prize for a "We Didn't Start the Fire" contest was $50, then the prize for a hypothetical "Life is a Rock" contest would have had to be about $1000! It would have been that much more difficult, and remember, we didn't have the internet back then! I had a written-down copy of the "Life is a Rock" lyrics, but I didn't keep those, unfortunately. I remember that they were STILL reeling off names as it faded out, so that would have only made it even tougher!

Some of these read like a typical K-tel album! And Hippie Radio here in Nashville still plays "Mr. Jaws" and "Energy Crisis," both of which have humorous endings! ;D

Can y'all list all the songs used in the Stars on 45 Beatles medley without looking at the record? (I seem to recall that they are listed on the album cover like a newspaper article.)

What about the songs in the Beach Boys medley?

The Beatles movie medley?

The Hooked on Classics medleys?

The Hooked on Phonics medleys? (Just seeing if you were paying attention! ;D)

Very good, my posts were from Buchanen & Goodman flying saucer records incl Santa & Satellite, Flying Saucer Goes West, etc. & Buchanen & Goodman On Trial. I'm missing Banana Boat Song.
How about Outer Space Looters by the Mad Martians on Satellite?

I am not sure if this is still the fact: When Stars on 45 beatles Medley went to Number One , what 1983 or so, because the Beatles song titles were listed as part of the title , It became the Longest song title to reach to #1 It knocked out a song by BJ Thomas which had knocked out a song by Brian Hyland...who can name both those songs ?

Me! The BJ Thomas song was "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song," and the Brian Hyland song was of course "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini."

A couple more Dickie Goodman songs not mentioned: "Luna Trip" in 1969 after the Apollo 11 moon landing, and "Star Warts" in 1977.

Seems to me I remember quite a fuss and a large law suit by some of the artists that had their recording snipets used in the flying saucer and other novelty tunes put out by B&G. Anyone else remember the hot water the pair got into?
