Frankly Harry, I have a thing called Lupus-Anti-Coagulent, thus causing me to have to be on the blood thinner forever. I even have what's called a "Greenfield Filter" in my body..to prevent clots from moving from my legs to my torso or above. It's like a catchers mitt. So far, not one ball has gotten past Elston as I call it. Thankfully.
And I appreciate the note from the administrator about the posts in question. I just think that sometimes it gets a bit heavy handed especially as the initial post in question was a response to something that was writen by another poster..in a legitimate way. That's what I have the problem with. I can see how the administators want to steer the conversations to "Radio"...but "RADIO is all encompassing these days, to include views of other things.. Radio's PLATFORMS are changing perhaps, but the free exchange of ideas shouldn't. Perhaps a friendly REMINDER of that would have been a bit less HARSH a decision, and I'm SURE the poster would have understood the mission of this board. But I hope that's what it was and NOT some vendetta to keep certain folks off this board. Look, that happens on a major board that we all read focusing on NY radio..and that ain't necessarily fair either.
So for the sake of EVERY one...let's lift any "bans" of certain people IF we can keep this about RADIO. And particularly JERSEY Radio. What I REALLY don't want to see are these dumb posts about "I picked up WQQQ at my home in Mayetta today. That's unusual. How many other stations did YOU pick up today from YOUR home?" See that's very juvinile and wastes space for folks who actually HAVE a brain, and want to discuss RADIO stuff in ALL of its forms and all of the arms that it has including occasional diversions into just how a board is run. Either this is a public forum or it's not! If there is abuse, TELL THEM, and most people will have a reasoned discourse about subject matter. It's that easy in MY estimation. Radio in NJ and elsewhere is in DIRE need of controversey to kick it up a notch. I think that's what the poster was trying to do...perhaps making some uncomfortable. And ya know, the people who HAVE the POWER to decide what goes and what stays should review what is TRULY offensive and what isn't. THAT'S subjective..and that's where I have the problem.
So once again..if we can just talk about RADIO in NJ, that's fine..but let's put some intelligence into the posts please? Some of us actually want to hear what others have to say...and add invaluable history and humor to an otherwise boring discusssion by geeks who live with their mothers and don't have a CLUE about what this business WAS about or IS about now. It's VITAL that we keep this line of communication open.
