South Carolina Morning News-WVOC and WSCC

iHeart has again cut some corners for its SC cluster. Gary David Barbouza and Christopher Thompson’s WVOC morning show is now also airing on WSCC-FM in Charleston. It’s been renamed South Carolina’s Morning News in.
 
Kelly Golden and Michael Blaze were two of the only iHeart local personalities they had. They only have a few people left now. Ric Rush on 102.5 and maybe one or two others
 
How would Colombia listeners and advertisers on VOC react if they were suddenly faced with a weekday 6:00am 9:00am show focused on Charleston/Low Country news and events? IHeart management have totally ignored the fact that WSC 94.3 listeners have NO interest in Columbia originated "stuff". Hopefully, they will reverse their STUPIDLY ARROGANT decision!

They have eliminated talking about local issues from what I heard although the past week of Nancy Mace drama has now given them enough fodder that it really does cover both areas.
 
Yep and it is a “statewide” issue since she is running for Governor. But a dumb decision especially during hurricane season. And for any weather. Many winter and spring days the weather in Columbia is 10-15 degrees cooler than Charleston. Nobody in Charleston cares about Harbison traffic.

And the only local talk option now is Corey Allen which is only on 7-8am on WTMA and is far right conservative. Facebook has basically replaced all of that now.

A long ways from 20 years ago when you had Dan Moon local in the AM on 94.3, a local PM drive show, Richard Todd on WTMA in the AM and Rocky D in the afternoon. Andy Thomas was local on another station as well.

We always joke about Tara the shrill up in the Upstate on this board, but Corey Allen is crazy (has a lengthy rap sheet too lol) but that said I forgot he had a show. His friends he always had on Matt & Michele Leber recently both self-destructed (scandalous affairs & domestic violence), so I wonder if he even bothered to talk about their issues lol.

But you’re absolutely right. In fact the first day there was a snafu and Charleston was getting traffic and weather reports for Columbia. It’s been corrected now. Sad to think how far both WSCC and WVOC have fallen especially in the past decade.

I’d take a piped in show any day over the “live and local” Queen Tara 😂
 
Corey Allen isn’t even on there now it’s just Bill West and Sheree Bernardi, the two music personalities who have been with Cumulus/Citadel for decades here. He lasted like 6 months at 8am. The TMA Morning Show is just 7-8.

When you’re too extreme for conservative talk radio in South Carolina…
