Southernmost points Canadian stations were historically carried on cable in the U.S.

Back in the '80s, CBC North was carried on cable in Toppenish and Zillah, WA, small towns about 20 miles SE of Yakima. No, I'm not kidding, this wasn't CBUT Vancouver that was carried. This contained the national CBC feed plus English and Inuit language news for NWT/Yukon/etc. CBC North was carried on C-Band for decades.
An even more shocking example...CHEK Victoria (CTV) was carried in Eugene, OR back in the '80s! This is over 300 miles south! I believe Yakima also got CHEK on cable.

CBET is still carried on Buckeye's two systems in Ohio (Toledo and Sandusky) as well as Spectrum in Port Clinton. CBET used to have more carriage in northwest Ohio.
CKWS is seen in Utica, New York.
CBUT is carried in a majority of Western Washington.
CISA used to have translators in Montana.

When I was at Bowling Green State University, Time Warner Cable picked up CBET. Around the time I took a Canadian Studies class in the spring semester of 2009, TWC removed CBET from its channel lineup, along with WKBD in Detroit. My professor of that class actually started a petition to keep it around.

I believe that was the same time that Time Warner removed Columbus' WBNS (CBS) from its Findlay system as well as CBET and WKBD. WBNS had been on up there forever and its anchors, especially the weather guys, often would acknowledge their carriage in Hancock County.

A fun CBC North fact: Its primary station, CFYK, was the only station outside of a mandatory market that CBC converted to digital broadcasting.

Back on topic, Spectrum carries CBMT on some of its Michigan systems (mostly former Bresnan systems).

A system in far northern New Hampshire carries Tele-Quebec and V, but not CBC or CTV.

Canadian telecasters have an uphill battle holding on to the few viewers they have.
The most viewed programs on Canadian television are most always done in the U.S.
or elsewhere. The Canadian content is minimal and generally pretty poor. In border
cities, particularly in Ontario, Canadians watch more television from cities like Buffalo,
N.Y. , Erie, P.A. and Detroit, M.I. than their own stations. Why on earth would anyone
want to watch Canadian television in the U.S.?????

Two reasons:
NHL coverage
The Olympics (CBC blows out almost their entire regular schedule to air the Olympics)

Not having lived in a market that carries CBC for almost 19 years, I can tell you those are the two biggest things I miss about CBC. Their Olympic coverage is worlds better than NBC.

Does the CBC still focus mainly on the sports rather than the human-interest fluff and personal-tragedy melodrama that dominates NBC's coverage, which appears targeted at 25-44 females with no real interest in sports who'd be watching "The Bachelorette" or a Lifetime movie otherwise? Also, with the Games including more and more sports attractive to this airhead demographic every four years (rhythmic this, synchronized that, artistic blecch), does the CBC still mainly show traditional Olympic sports -- track & field, swimming, boxing, etc.?

I watched some of their 2018 Winter Olympics coverage and it was mainly sports-based

when its shows appear on US cable

I've watched a number of Canadian dramas once they got to US cable: Avonlea, Date my Dad, Heartland, Leverage, Private Eyes, Saving Hope. In fact, some weeks I watched them more than I've done with American TV. With the exception of Saving Hope, these shows are more light-hearted than many US TV shows.

Seattle carried atleast two major Vancouver stations in the 80's and 90's, I think CBUT and CTV (not sure of the actual calls). Today it is just CBUT. However, Vancouver carries the full boat of network affiliates out of Seattle, including Fox. Edmonton and Calgary carry the full boat from Spokane.

Especially Vancouver Shaw Cable carries

KSTW CW 11 SHAW Cable 14
KVOS H&I 12 SHAW Cable 30
KCPQ FOX 13 SHAW Cable 28

The Big 4 + PBS from Seattle are authorized to be carried nationally in Canada. I don't know if CW is or not. Unless its authorized by the CRTC to be carried outside of a local area the only way it can be carried is if its collected OTA (hence KVOS)

There are some stations that the CRTC doesn't allow cable carriage even in areas where said station provides an OTA signal (see KNRR, WGTQ, and WWUP, all of which are satellites of other stations)
