I found this on the FCC website a few days ago. It's a CP for a new class A FM station licensed to Jemison at 89.3. I saw the application for the station a few months ago, but it had been dismissed at the time. It's since been approved, and the licensee is Jimmy (James) Jarrell Communications, which also has a couple of other christian stations in Alabama, two of which I can think of off the top of my head are WELL-FM "Praise 88.7" in Dadeville, and WPIL in Heflin. They also have several other pending applications in various places, mostly in eastern Alabama, and a couple CP's, one for Alexander City and the other for Talladega. I figured the proposed station was probably going to have an issue with being too close to WBFR in Birmingham at 89.5, but somehow they pulled it off. WELL-FM is contemporary christian. I'm not really sure, but I believe WPIL is southern gospel. Obviously, the new Jemison station won't cover all of metro Birmingham, but it should be able to cover a good portion of Chilton and Shelby counties. Anyone know of any info about this station, and any proposed programming? I listen online to WELL when I visit my in-laws who lives in the Alex City area. Just wondering if maybe JJC was considering some type of contemporary christian programming for the new station.
