Spectrum cable's local news channel, Spectrum News 1, launches Wednesday

https://www.jsonline.com/story/ente...pectrum-news-1-launches-wednesday/2107761002/

This time Spectrum will be in Wisconsin.

Starting Wednesday, there's a new news player on Milwaukee TV.

Spectrum News 1 will air on Channel 1 on Spectrum's cable systems in Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, carrying mostly local news programming. Spectrum has news operations in place in Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay, as well as reporters who will cover the rest of the state.

Mike Bair, executive vice president of Spectrum Networks, said Spectrum has hired 25 journalists in Wisconsin.

Some of them are names that'll be familiar to Milwaukee news-watchers.

Sachelle Saunders, who was an anchor and reporter at WDJT-TV (Channel 58) in Milwaukee from 2013-'16, is the anchor of Spectrum's weekday morning newscast starting at 6 a.m., with weather reports from forecasters Kristin Ketchell and Brooke Brighton.

And Craig Koplien, who spent 11 years at WTMJ-TV (Channel 4), returns as part of the channel's evening newscasts, including anchor Jason Fechner and chief meteorologist JD Rudd.

We're already saturated with established local news offerings from 4, 6, 12, and 58. This is a total waste of effort on their part. Nobody is going to watch this channel.
