In Merriville indiana near chicago, kept getting a chr station on 99.1 mixing with Milwaukie and Classic Rock from Champainge Try 99,, got IDs on both those stations,, the chr station kept fading out right at station IDs so i never caught an I.D... What could the 99.1 in this area be.

South Of indianapolis on 96.5,,, got 3 stations,, WAZY Lafayette and WSV Shebyville, nothing unusual there, but when waiting for IDs on these stations, I got a station POP in for like 3 seconds and this time at the best time possible, right at the station ID,, Heard them say in male voice 96.5 TIZ or 96.5 TIC,,,, where is this mysterious station and how far is it..

Unid Rap music on 93.7 near Indianapolis,, never caught an ID,, Any ideas????

The classic rock you were hearing on 99.1 was not from Champaign. The Champaign 99.1 flipped to classic country back in January. They now go by "Wixy Classic 99-1."

The station you heard on 96.5 was probably WTIC in Hartford, CT if they were identifying as 96-5 TIC. Good catch.

Looks like you had WTIC-FM 96.5 MHz Hartford, Connecticut "96.5 Tic". and WPLR 99.1 MHz New Haven, CT.
I've had New England on FM 3 times in my life here in Indiana.

E skip from Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Mexico are much more common here.

You guys know more about this than me, but also I have never ever heard a New england fm here,,, however about 10 yrs ago I got New York, Z-100 caught an ID on that,, also got Dance Music on 103.5,, this had to be KTU,, Sporative E here usually comes from Florida, Texas, and Colorado, my farthest Sporative E here have been Miami and Denver Colordo,, but my farthest FM catch ever was Spain into South Carolina coast.... But this all happened in the june july and august months, ive never had a catch over maybe 200 miles this time of year. Thanks fo the help,, if I was in fact getting New England stations on 99.1 and 96.5,, then the rap on 93.7 was most undoubtedly Hot 93.7 also in hartford Conneticut, since both these hartford stations popped in within minutes of each other in the same area. Its weird that the 99.1 200 miles farther north was fading in and out for at least 5 hrs. Is this wplr the only chr on this Frequency?? All these stations were picked up on a standard but Good quality factory car radio in a 98 ford contour...

A 3 second burst of a strong signal at that distance is probably a meteor burst. E-Skip almost always lasts longer than that...anywhere from an hour to several hours being typical. The good news is that you very likely did get WTIC. The bad news is that whatever you heard on 93.7 & 103.5 probably didn't come from the same area...unless they also were in for about 3 seconds each. Congrats on having a meteor hit at ID time...I'd buy a lottery ticket with the numbers 965 in it.

Several years ago we had abnormal atmospheric conditions that allowed me to hit an Indy ham repeater from Evansville over a period of days from Evansville. I have heard WKDQ Evansville over WZPL Greenfield in Hope before. Have heard Texas FM stations many times in my car. Sometimes I would do the same with TV when the band was open.

I was in Putnam County when this was happening and heard NPR on 88.1 and I am very sure there is no NPR on 88.1 in Indiana or Kentucky. I did nt get an ID.

Because we have several weather systems with cold and warm air colliding this is the perfect condition for such things.

I heard IBuzz from Minnesota last week...just kidding.

I Do hear iBuzz from Minnesota most every night, but on AM. WCCO 830's hiss generator adds an obnoxious noise floor under WHAS, even though I'm 80 miles from WHAS. Fact is, WHAS starts to be impacted by WCCO's IBOC noise a mere 35 miles out.

were you in Merrillville or you think they were from the Merrillville area?

I lived in Merrillville back in the 90s. and the only 99.1 i would ever catch up there was 2 Michigan 99.1's a 99.1 in Milwaukee. and a 99.1 down state Illinois

if it was the milwaukee 99.1 lazer 103 and a Rock 102.1 would allways come in with it strong. (rock 102.1 i think it was been awhile)
