sports, sports and more sports how much can one take..

I dialed up 990 to hear Levin last night, guess what, no Levin, instead Sports Talk, later I tried Hannity on 1210, guess what, no Hannity a Basketball game. So in reality, there were 6 stations airing some sort of sports last night. There should be some clause that states if a station picks up a spoken word host they cannot be pre-emptied by sports. At least on 106.9, these hosts were always available. Again, is sports so important to be flooding the airwaves, instead of something of value and importance.

I feel your pain. I am not a sports fan and I am always amazed at how many sports stations exist. Yes,I know they are easy to sell, but isn't two enough for any market? I count the simulasts like WFAN as two signals, even though they are the same. Of course basketball, football, baseball and hockey broadcasts can be found on non sports stations,so it is very conceivable six different stations can be broadcasting sports at the same time. Have we reached the saturation point with all sports stations? How small can the pie be sliced? South Florida has six different sports frequencies. Miami-Fort Lauderdale has three AM stations on powerful frequencies and one on FM,simulcasting 790, yet there is only one English language news talk station in Miami,WIOD and they also carry sporting events.

I agree. When you want to hear a certain talk show and it is preempted for a sporting event,it is frustrating.

Oh do I hear ya bro, with all the sports signals and no Standards or full time (Right Wing) talk, (including the 7 day full schedule of Coast to Coast AM) you have to wonder. I would love to hear Dean, Perry, Nat, Eddie and others on the T-band, instead of hearing what Michael Vick eats for breakfast over and over again. I for one, do not care for sports and never will, I know there are some people although hard to believe in this sports crazy town that think everyone loves sports, not so. Instead of cleaning up the air, taxes, congestion and crime around here, all they are worried about is tailgating and yelling E-A-G-L-E-S, lol.

Even though I'm squarely in the demo for Limbaugh and the others like him, I prefer sports and sports talk. Too much boilerplate muckraking. If I want non-sports talk, NJ101.5 is one of my presets. Were I to own a station, I would not be squeezed into a deal where I wasn't allowed to PRE-EMPT(the correct spelling!)the syndicated feed. If I could make more money with a sports broadcast than through the local spot avails, I'd do it!

You're lucky it's only Sports. You should come here to Boston. There are so many Rock and Roll stations. There's not enough (Urban AC) we just got a Rhythmic AC, but that is similar, but not quite to Urban AC
I wouldn't complain much
If it were Rock and Roll music, I would complain. Too hard on Lauro's ears :(
