SportsMap finally on HD sub, iHeart moves around some subs

I noticed this on Saturday.

KQBT HD3 is now La Mejor

KTBZ HD2 is now SportsTalk 790
KTBZ HD3 is a foreign language broadcaster, didnt listen long enough

KODA HD2 is News Radio 740 KTRH
KODA HD3 is SportsMap 94.1. It sounds like its being fed from the over the air signal

KODA-HD3 PAD data references SportsTalk 790, kinda funny.

KTBZ-HD3 is running Radio Dabang, fed off the air from K287BQ.

KRTH (on KODA HD2) sounds like its running stereo. Very noticable on music beds, especially the ABC News theme, commercials too.

Also, what is a good gauge for signal strength of an HD2? I heard it was a tenth of the HD1's signal strength, so if the signal strength is 96,600 watts, you could expect about 9660 for the HD2.

So, if I'm looking at the fccdata map of the HD1, would I expect the signal to fade at the local line, or the marginal line?

I believe there were some stations that had not gone through with the power increase in Houston. YMMV.

Usually gets out to at least the 50dBu service contour of a station. I am typically able to pick the HD2's (and some HD3's) of the Senior Road stations as far away as Huntsville without an issue. HD3s are a bit harder to get.

Back when HD radio was launched, I'd lose HD signal from Senior Rd stations once I hit the rolling hills north of Willis. Is that really no longer the case? For them to reach Huntsville seems a stretch since the analog signal is very spotty inside the town.

No longer the case from my experience. Then again, I can pick the analogs up almost out to Madisonville... I guess my truck may just have a good antenna.

It's not just your truck.

Six of the nine Senior Road stations have upgraded their main transmitters in the last few years. They're broadcasting with much higher HD power now, and the HD radio signals they're broadcasting are much cleaner than the signals the original HD Radio transmitters could produce.
