Did Arbitron elminate these markets? I do not see them listed anymore as Arbitron markets.

I was at WCIL-AM/FM when we contracted with Arbitron for a four county book.. That's what moved it into a four county market, at that time.. Costs, too many signals and such hurt Southern Illinois' books.. Now, Springfield... PROTEST and go without.. Eastlan is not a bad deal for towns and markets like that.. And you can customize area by different perimeters (Counties, Zip Code, Radius, etc...)...

I worked at wee-jee-puff for awhile in the mid '70s; (WJPF-AM, Herrin). How did WJPF do in the ratings while you were at WCIL?

I still have the numbers stored away in a box... 1...WCIL-FM, 2...WDDD-FM, 3...WTAO-FM, 4...WHPI(WJPF)-AM, 5...WEBQ-FM, and WCIL-AM was there...And, that was 12+ with about 149,000 12+ in the four counties surveyed (if I remember right)... Jackson, Williamson, Franklin and Perry.... KMOX-AM, KXOK-AM were in the top ten... KSHE-FM showed slightly (Upper Jackson and Perry Counties could get them in the autos...)... Locally, WMIX-FM, WFRX-AM/FM, WINI-AM, WDQN-AM/FM showed and KGMO-FM has a point something, then...Signals are much bigger, now, and more stations around.... We were 20 something, Three-"D" was in the teens and 'TAO was just under ten, if I remember right..... Polack for three hours and me for one on the 3 to 7 daypart had about a 27,if I remember and Me for two hours and McCann for three hours in the 7 to 12 daypart had a uncanny 49.....Geez... We had no idea what that meant in those waning days of double digit ratings in small markets... The country station in Terre Haute blows between a 25 to 30 share, now with as many signals...

Skippertthomas-

I grew up listening to CIL in the hayday era of the late 70's and 80's. I just started a blog about stations that still offer live programming and want to feature CIL. I would love to chat about the early days of the station.

Well, Tony Waitekus, Me, Matt McCann, Chip Ramsey, Mike Reis, Dennis Lyle, Rich Bird, etc.. A ton of us are around...
