State of Country Radio in Cincinnati

you guys love those oldies, jammmin, movin stations don't you. Why could it not be possible to leave The Wolf a country station? Is that too far out of the scope of reality? As said in a previous post, wouldn't you want to protect your "cash cow". How do you protect the "cow" ? Thoughts?

Oh, I agree with you 100% and chances are, they wont touch the station....maybe just design it a little better.

However, if they do flip the station, I would vote a LOVE like format, only because it would work well here in Cincy.

But your right, I would honestly have to say, the only reason they want to keep the Wolf..well The Wolf is to protect the cash cow.

After looking at the new signal on the FCC web site, it does seem that this new 97.3 signal - while a vast improvement - is NOT the powerhouse that everyone says it is. That being said, if they do go FM Talk, then Supertalk should go away or go all sports. Bonneville is really into the FM news/talk format and they do it with a full blown news department and local hosts. Look at KTAR in Phoenix, KSL in Salt Lake, and WTOP in D.C. Big time operations.

How long until the approval process is over?

Rumors are flying like crazy! If you look at the situation then the rumors are not looking like rumors anymore! With WUBE losing their PD they are very vunerable in the ball game! Who hates Bonneville the most hmmmm... CLEARCHANNEL! Look at their battles KISS & MIX VS Q-102, and WEBN VS THE SOUND! Now bonneville only has 2 stations left and their both country! B-105.1 and The Wolf! With MIX 94.1 falling off the chart in ratings I wouldnt be surprised to see Clearchannel go for the fly swatter and try to take out the BEE! Although some are saying the Wolf is there to flanker the bee! Sorry yall with MIX'S singnal pretty much almost outpowering the bee! The Wolf would be no competition!

The Wolf just changed formats trying to gain more than just the younger crowd probably cause of the rumors that are flying around!

This is what I see happening at Clearchannel- B-105.1'S old PD (MARTY THOMPSON) Will take the chair as PD of 94.1 The Bull (because the bull is clearchannels trademark country station) He has a non-compete deal with Bonneville so therefore it will be a while before he can hire anyone from bonneville! Although if he does dont think he wont go right for the heart of the bee and take out Bill White from the morning show or even Pistol Pete from mid-days!

If this was to happen this would be the shift at Bonneville- The morning show would be Big Dave and Amanda in the morning considering Big Daves ratings and that they both used to do a morning show together at Y96 a long time ago! Jessie Tack would leave the wolf to join the bee team at mid-days, Duke would stay afternoons, and their would be 2 slots open nights and overnights because the wolf would become all cyndicated and voice tracked! The Bee would be live 24/7, Killing the wolf from the race and then Bonneville will go back at Clearchannel take WLW while their down with Burbank leaving!

There is alot about to go down and soon, maybe within the next two weeks!

THE FIRST BIG CHANGE WASNT THAT BIG COMPAIRED TO WHATS ABOUT TO GO DOWN!

Wow! You should use a lot more exclamation points! And a thesaurus! And a dictionary! And you should check with your boss to make sure you're not trading! Proprietary! Information!

True...Clear Channel hates Bonneville, but you know why? Because Bonneville knows their **it. They know how to treat employees, they know how to make money and they also understand the need for budgets. Clear Channel wishes they knew what Bonneville knows.

Could 3 country stations compete in Cincinnati...there is a very very slim possibility, but highly doubtful.

Marty may try to cross the street and play the game to bring people across with him. But Jesse, Bill everyone knows how truly good of a company Bonneville is to them and they wont have that anymore if they cross the street. CC will slap an 8 digit number behind their name along with a barcode and say.."get to work, you peasant".

Mix 94.1 is only supposed to help keep Warm out of the way, thats all it was ever designed to do and also tangle with the older demo's of KRQ. If anything were to ever happen, Kiss and Mix will swap frequencies and 107.1 will go AC. But thats really all I could ever see happen.

Bonneville is one of America's finest companies to work for, its been proven over and over and over. CC is an okay company, but doesnt have a great reputation by any means.

Bonneville has class A programmers all across the county, they also have faith in their product and their people. CC, well all they care about is making a penny and leaving the roadkill on the highway.

Bonneville has deeper roots (yes Mormon Church) so they know how to give respect. CC your a barcode to them.

If anything, Bonneville will step their game up in Cincinnati if 94.1 would ever go country. They know how to spend the mean green if they have to and thats what they understand the most. They know to make money in radio, you gotta spend money in radio.

Once the 97.3 Signal is upped..I can see 3 country stations going at it. Having seen research, Cincinnati is either the 3rd or 4th highest cuming country music market in the US (and that's just with 2 stations). It follows Pittsburg and Kansas City. I can't remember the other market..if there is one.

Well true...no doubt there, but Bonneville will still effectively dominate the market with WUBE no matter who goes up against it. If Bonneville knows how to do one thing, they know how to protect the cash cow.

Patti is one if not the best programmer in Cincinnati, followed very closely by Bodean and Anderson, along with a few others.

Plus Bonneville has the cash, the purpose and the drive to win in this market. They are here for a reason, Clear Channel is only here to suck every penny it can out of the market. If 94.1 The Bull comes along...dont be shocked to see Warm dominate the #2 spot and WUBE to still hang in at #3.

...and let's not forget that both WPFB-FM 105.9 and WHKO-FM 99.1 have extremly strong signal coverage, especially over the northern metro and near downtown - both with country programming.
Yes, there are way too many country stations in this market today!

I notice Big D and Bubba are absent from The Wolf website....whats up with that?

Word is WUBE will have a Bungal Linebacker filling in...Will it be David Pollack? He has a great relationshio with the station and promotions director, plus they reached out to him and his family after his injory last season...although he has said on his website he is declining interviews, he makes the most sense from thier perspective. Of course it could also be Thurmann, word is they would provide the booze and a bit would be him driving the station's Avalanche with a .14 BAC....any thoughts?
