Thanks for passing along these thoughts and memories from some of those who knew him. I thought Charlie Brown was particularly spot on.

While I choose to remain anonymous here, I do have to say that Lan came to town when I was all of 8 years old and everyone I knew listened EVERY morning before school and often times was the topic throughout the day for the following ten years.

From shutting off the transmitter so aliens could communicate on channel 95 to trolling for pigs at Golden Gardens, getting news from the Hollywood Reporter and wondering what Phil Dirt would do next.... Lan knew how to ignite your imagination and create radio pictures with all that he did. It made me want to be on the radio. Fun to listen to and as Charlie said, an inspiration to all of us that followed him.

And on top of all that, a genuinely "nice guy" who cared about his fellow humans. I will never forget visiting and meeting him in Honolulu for the first time 26 years ago, having grown up listening to him on the radio and then sitting next to him listening to that great voice and magical, if not slightly touched, wit.

The world is lesser place.

Thanks for listening.

I always thought Charlie as a class act in his own right. He's always given props when due.
