Stations airing shows not typically seen on affiliates of their network

What are some stations that air shows that are typically not seen on the network they are affiliated with? Past and present, here are a few examples I know of:

  • WJZ-TV - CBS - Baltimore, Maryland - Maury at 9 a.m.
  • KIMA-TV - CBS - Yakima, Washington - The Simpsons at 7:30 p.m.
  • KPIX-TV - CBS - San Francisco, California - Everybody Loves Raymond at 7:30 p.m.
  • WRC-TV - NBC - Washington, D.C. - The Queen Latifah Show (first incarnation) at 12 p.m.
  • WCCB-TV - The CW - Charlotte, North Carolina - The Ellen DeGeneres Show at 5 p.m.
  • KGAN-TV - CBS - Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Grace Under Fire at 3:30 p.m.
  • KGRV-TV - ABC - Weslaco, Texas - Nash Bridges at 10:30 p.m. (Saturdays)
  • WABI-TV - CBS - Bangor, Maine - King of the Hill at 10:30 a.m.
  • WSPA-TV - CBS - Spartanburg, South Carolina - Mama's Family at 7:30 p.m.
  • WTKR-TV - CBS - Norfolk, Virginia - Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. at 4:30 a.m.
  • KWGN-TV - The CW - Denver, Colorado - Jeopardy! at 3:28 p.m. (weird timeslot, too)
So, what are some examples you know?

WCCB did used to be Fox so that is a holdover from that time. They have aired Ellen at 5 since Day 1. Also I recently learned the Shreveport CW station airs Ellen as well.

There was a time that WATL (MyNet) aired Jeopardy instead of their duopoly partner WXIA so that WXIA could air 7pm news.

That's true. Ellen is more common on Fox stations than The CW stations, but still, ABC, CBS, and NBC stations mainly carry her. I don't know if she airs on any independent stations.

Who NBC 13 aired reruns of Seinfeld around 1995 when by that point they stopped airing reruns of comedy's like years before. KDSM FOX 17 aired Sally Jessy Raphael and Ricki Lake when they left WHO NBC 13 (of course Sally Jessy Raphael also aired on WOI ABC 5 before it moved to Fox 17)

Years ago, Live! was typically seen on ABC affiliates, so I found it odd when Live! moved from WGTU (ABC) to WWTV (CBS) back in the 2000s.

I still find it unusual when Wheel and/or Jeopardy! air on FOX affiliates, even if said FOX affiliate was a one-time Big Three affiliate.

At one point, Philadelphia had two oddities:

WCAU (NBC O&O) in Philadelphia carried Jerry Springer at 2pm.
KYW, the CBS O&O, carried Sally Jessy Raphael at 4pm and Maury at 9am too.

Live with Regis and Kathie Lee and now Live with Kelly and Ryan has always aired on KCCI CBS 8. For alot of years KCCI never changed their schedule for alot of years when they aired Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, The Price is Right, The Young and the Restless, News, Bold and the Beautiful, As the World Turns, Guiding Light, Montel Williams, Oprah Winfrey (after it moved from WHO NBC 13) News and Inside Edition. While the other networks seem to change their schedule year to year KCCI was one of the few that stayed the same from the mid 1990s to 2008 when Montel Williams ended it's run.

WZZM: Glee on weekends for a couple of years on the weekends, I thought that WXMI Fox17 would air that on the weekends.

WWMT: BH 90210 on the weekends came on at 5PM when they had no NFL for 4 years, Jerry Springer when he was red hot was on the big 3 Jerry for a long time was 9AM on WWMT from 96 to 01 they put it in the late-night hour at 1:30AM but moved it back to 9AM on Jan 02. As the talk at 9AM failed and put that at 1:30AM WWMT in the final years put it on at 1:30AM before it moved to WXSP in 05 until the end of its run 10AM, 11AM & I think also did air at 12PM no double runs ever of Jerry Spinger before moving to CW7 in 2018 on The CW daytime.

WoodTV: Aired Spin City at 7PM to pair with Friends at 7:30PM in the early 2000s, Change Of Heart in 1999 at 4:30AM before that moved to WXMI Fox17 in the fall of 2000, ES TV at 4:30AM before they put news at 4:30AM in 2012 a week after WWMT debut 4:30AM news.

WXMI Fox17: Made In Hollywood for a couple of years 2011-13 in the late-night hours on the weekend, CW7 aired Made In Hollywood for one year in 06 then returned 5 years later on Fox17, then didn't air until 2019 when WXSP picked it up for the weekend Made In Hollywood Teen Edition has been aired more than the main show. Grand total 5 years for Made In Hollywood in the West Michigan TV market and I think it will remain on WXSP this fall 3 years that will be the longest that any TV station has aired it.

That is all I can think of odd airing of shows.

The ABC affiliate in Kansas City, MO (KMBC-TV, Ch. 9) has never carried Live! The show instead aired on CBS affiliate KCTV-TV, Ch. 5 from September 5, 1988, to September 7, 2012 & then on Fox affiliate WDAF-TV, Ch. 4 from September 10, 2012 to the present. KCTV-TV carried the show in the 9-10AM hour, while WDAF-TV carries it in the 10-11AM hour. I do remember the show airing on the ABC affiliate in Columbia\Jefferson City, MO (KMIZ-TV, Ch. 17) in the late 90's to early 2000's. A half-hour newscast & a episode of Judge Judy now airs in it's place, from 9-10AM.

Entertainment Tonight which aired on I think every single station in Des Moines. It has mostly aired on WOI ABC 5 but it has aired on cbs 8 for a time not sure about NBC 13. In the fall of 1991 entertainment tonight aired on KDSM FOX 17 and in the early 2000s it aired on the newly launched KPWB 23 WB network.

For years, Traverse City-Cadillac didn't air Entertainment Tonight
