Story Television To Go On WZME - MeTV Plus Going To 43.2

Rabbitears.info with the scoop. Story Television will be on 43.1 when they officially go on the air March 28. MeTV+ will move to 43.2, replacing SonLife. It's possible that the 43.1 spot is a placeholder until Weigel can move it to a WJLP subchannel. However, WZME is supposed to have a city signal when the DTS at Empire State Building can be turned on. That would indicate to me that it's more likely that Heroes & Icons, Start TV, Decades and/or Movies! end up at WJLP at some point in the future.

Someone at another board had a scoop that not only will Story Television start off being aired on WZME 43.1 but also on WJLP 33.3 on March 28. That would mean that Grit would be bumped off from 33.3. Where Grit goes from there, who knows. Naturally, you would assume that Scripps would bring Grit to one of the WPXN 31 subchannels but there may not be sufficient space there. Perhaps Grit moves to replace either the Laff or Ion Mystery duplicates on channel 33, replace a Bounce TV duplicate on channel 41, replace a QVC duplicate on channel 48 or fill in a blank slot on channel 63. Grit will continue to air on Channel 67 in the Long Island suburbs but would no longer have a city signal unless one of the scenarios I've just listed happens.

It does make sense, though, to bring Story Television to both WZME and WJLP, while the process get authorization to transmit a DTS signal from the Empire State Building for WZME/WEDW continues its bureaucratic journey. Should they get that authorization what happens then?

The FCC has granted the request from WZME/WEDW for the modified DTS at Empire State Building.

Someone with expertise can please explain whether the DTS would enable the two stations to ask for must-carry status from the local NYC cable and satellite operators.
