Streetz 94.5 Giving Away Tickets to Other Stations Events

I haven't been the biggest Streetz fan....but I think it is awesome of them to give away tickets to Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash and V-103 Car and Bike Show. This is a great business decision. You keep listeners from going to those other stations to win these sort after tix. It's a brilliant thing to do. I'm just waiting for Hot to do a liner......"Our Birthday Bash is so big other stations are giving away tickets."

Is this an unheard of practice or is it pretty common?

When I heard the announcement at 5:30pm I was like WTF! I guess this may actually be a good thing considering they are the smallest of the 3 and probably can't afford to throw there own "big" concert/event this Summer. It'll keep some listeners locked in to win instead of listening to the other stations. Notice that they aren't saying HOT 107.9 nor V103, instead just saying we got tickets for Birthday Bash and the celebrity Car & Bike Show. Boy, Hurricane Dave can really make a fool out of STREETZ 94.5 like AJ said, but then again HOT is still claiming to be "Atlanta's Only Hip-Hop Station" so I doubt they'd even give 94.5 some limelight.

WHTA ATL is talking trash about STREETZ, lol

They're indirectly accusing "other people" of trying to mix like them.

Too bad Atl. doesn't have any CHR's (rhythmic or top 40) that will mix all weekend for Memorial Day. But at least the urbans know how to get down, have fun, and still do well in ratings.

And now Hot just took a stab at other stations for trying to "act like they're hosting the event" because the evens are so big that others need to jump on it as well.

When Q100 first came to Atlanta in 2001, Q and Star 94 were kind of trying to take over each other's shows. But that was a little different because they were concerts with big celebrities and not just station shows. But each station was the official station of certain shows.

I remember once when it was Q100's show. Something showed up on Star 94's website that was exactly word for word what was written about the show on Q100's website, and Q100 PD Dylan Sprague was complaining about it. For another big show that was Star's, both stations gave away tickets (which was usually the case for the big shows), and Q100 made it sound like it was their show. Star 94's PD back then was Dan Bowen.

Streetz might want to be careful about that whole "Car & Bike Show" thing. CBS doesn't play about anyone attempting to cope or profit off any of their intellectual properties without compensation. Dancing around it by using different deals while attempting to profit from when V-103 have their exclusive deal with the GWCC Authority along with the promotions for the event can be considered infringement.

Damn you laid it out! I like STREETZ, but they should've just stuck with the Lil Wayne, Beyonce and Mindless Behavior shows coming to town this Summer

Are u talking about HOT 97's Summer Jam? I remember stations in Augusta and Macon were once giving away tickets to HOT 107.9's Birthday Bash a couple of years ago.
