Strong Tropo Yesterday brought New Log #136! 7/12/10

Yesterday, the NW had a very good tropo opening, which brought one new log! Here's the log, from first station to last.

1:05-1:10PM: Rare 99.5 KWJJ Portland, OR popped up w/ country music, along w/ 101.1 KUFO Portland and 101.9 KINK like locals.

1:11PM: 102.1 KPQ Wenatchee was really enhanced yesterday as the Tr got stronger. Also had local-like KMNT 104.3 Chehalis.

After this KB7WOX in Portland area got 88.1 CBU-FM2, the repeater of AM 690 + 96.5 KJAQ and DTV25 KMYQ (My Network TV), one of my locals.

Around 5PM Tr was stronger than ever to Central WA and got my new log #136!

91.9: KDNA Granger, WA: Spanish music and TOH ID "This is KDNA Yakima." 18kw. First fully IDed Yakima station logged here! Distance is 116 miles.

After this I had 95.3 KXLE like a local. KDNA was in and out. Tried for other Yakima's, but no luck. 104.1 KXDD (my best target) is now covered up by KAFE Bellingham, they switched from 104.3 to 104.1 about six months ago.

KING would also sneak up into Vancouver BC on fairly regular occasions.

I guess I should have reported this on this board, so here is goes:

Just got back from a weeks vacation on the Oregon Coast, Fort Steven State Park near Warrenton, Oregon. Our arrival was early afternoon of July 5th. Upon arriving I decided to tune in KJR-FM from Seattle which usually comes in on the Northern Oregon Coast. To my surprise, I found a battle between two stations on 95.7, going back and forth with Classic Hits. Turns out the other station was KNDK-FM from Langdon, ND.
Later my wife and I decided to drive up to Astoria and on the way I pushed the button for 98.7 KUPL. At first I only noticed that the station was coming in strong, then heard the station ID as KOUT Rapid City. Wow! I was blown away at how it was coming in like a local. Not too long after it faded out.
I also got unknown stations on 95.5 and 97.1 that day, over the Portland stations but they didn't stay in long enough to get an ID.
 
KING-FM is a regular in parts of The dalles, Oregon--as I recall, the only station from the Seattle area received every time I was there.
 
I got KMPS 94.1, KJAQ 96.5, KIRO 97.3, KOMO 97.7, KING 98.1 (I think?), 102.5 KZOK and 106.1 KBKS in Yakima, WA April 2010.
