Sunny 92.3 out of Chattanooga..WDEF FM Does a Flip

Living in the Acworth area, I always was able to pick up one or two Chattanooga stations, Sunny 92.3 one of them.

They were playing some nice classic hits for the longest time, just noticed yesterday they flipped to a 24/7 Comedy channel..

Interesting tho, their old website is still active...I know I was not hearing things. They even ID'd themselves as 'the new 92.3 24/7 Comedy station'...

I know nothing about this new genre of radio entertainment, but Chattanooga...?????

Will be interesting to see how the locals handle this ;)

Now this is really confusing me. I just went on their web site, listened to their stream and they are back to their 'sunny' disposition.

I have a Bose radio, preset on 92.3, just listened 'live', and same old Sunny..

Could they be comedy at night only? Then why the ID??? Are they 'testing'?

I may call them today to end this mystery..

Isn't 92.3 the FM counterpart of WGST? It is definitely comedy 24/7 while the AM is ESPN Deportes

I did not know that. Perhaps that is it.

I have both my house and car pre-set to 92.3 because I have always rec'd 'Sunny 92.3' with no problems, and frankly, was better than any local Atlanta FM. So I know the frequency was right.

When did WGST begin using 92.3? That is a new one on me.

I was thinking perhaps another 'pirate' in the area. The NW Cobb area where I live already has one on 95.3.

Thanks for the reply.

I noticed yesterday that I was having trouble picking up 92.3 the comedy channel on I-85 near I-285. That used to be a strong area. I wonder if they have moved the translator and that is causing the issues in Acworth?

I thought the 92.3 translator had a big null to the northeast...?

Unless they have upped their power or reduced their null, this map is awfully optimistic...I can't get it much at all in most of Gwinnett.

CC has had 92.3 now for a few months. I suppose conditions were just right for you to pick up their signal rather than WDEF.

I get 92.3 Comedy real good around Perimiter Mall. Once I move north up GA 400 to Holcomb Bridge, it drops and bleeds with WDEF. As move NW towards Canton, GA, I only get WDEF.

So, if you are north of a Acworth to Woodstock to Roswell line, you get WDEF from Chattanooga. South of that, you can get the 24/7 Comedy station from ATL.

True...Comedy came in for one night only...I have been listening to WDEF for months....must have been a fluke that one night. Has not been back
Thanks for all the replies ;)
