Rob, why you will the rhythmic ac that goes after the most desired demos with the music they actually want to hear be a failure? Is it because you don't like it?

What are you trying to say?

And don't try the old regime's failed policy of "if you don't like my music, then I will discredit you" gag. I am not Run With Scissors, nor Rock Intern, nor any of his other aliases.

Don't you think that, if something of that ilk was successful, someone would have done it here by now?

Someone, please e-mail the link to the "pro-dance" board to this gentleman?

What's going on at the 2 stations right now. Still the same format, liners and list what songs the stations has played in the last hour and do you hear the jocks?

No one ever tried gospel in Philly, yet ther ratings it is getting are great for that signal.

Face it, most adult women in this city grew up on hot hits 98 cau, a station that played an awful lot of the rhythmic titles of the 80's. Look at the 90's, q102 had them with a rhythmic format too.

There are no stations that play an upbeat mix of adult rhythmic music in this market.

If you go to WJJZ and click the listen live link it says the server is down.

This was on the Y Rock on Xpn Boards:

Hey guys the rumors are true, alternative is coming back in Philly. I work very closely to the situation. It won't be on 104.5 however. Philadelphia's newest alternative station will be called Channel 1061, with the slogans of "philly's new rock" and "my new rock"

It is for this reason, the main url address for the station's website will be http://www.phillys1061.com rather than http://www.channel1061.com altough that url will redirect to channel1061's website. Also http://www.my1061.com will redirect to channel 1061's website aswell as a few other. The website is already set up, but currently blocked from public viewing. Infact if you click on the URL's they will take you to a forbidden, which tells you the server name is phillys1061.com

While the station will call itself new rock, stealing from y100, this is mostly to prevent the Y-rock on XPN from calling itself Philadelphia's new rock. Fact is this station will be a mix of 90's alternative and new rock.

As of now, the flip is planed for 5:00PM today, with stunting starting at noon. However this may change in either direction, if problems arise, or if clearchannel thinks somebody might wanna try and beat them to the punch. However for the most part, everything is loaded, and if needed they could flip in a second.

104.5 is also fliping, but it might not be today. Inpart because of buzz. Chances are they will flip Friday, to a rhythmic/dance type movin format.

I'm with Rockin Rob man I think dance formats are overrated.

and will someone PLEASE hose Julius down he is far too excited.

There is no way a dance station will be on in Philly, we are talking rhythmic ac. An energy type station is a "dance" station, the movin format is a rhythmic hot ac. You wouldn't call MMR an alternative station, would you?

From today's Inquirer
Sunny 104.5 and Smooth Jazz 106.1 will cease to exist at some point today as Clear Channel Radio prepares to reformat the two stations.

Company officials chose not to talk yesterday, but word is that WJJZ-FM (106.1) - for 13 years the home of Dave Koz and David Sanborn - will flip to a format known in the trade as "rhythmic adult-contemporary," an up-tempo mix of dance music aimed primarily at adult women.

If WKTU (103.5), a sister station in New York, is any indication, here's a sample: Michael Jackson's "Rock With You," Rihanna's "Unfaithful," Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie," and Madonna's "Sorry."

Clear Channel is not expected to announce plans for 104.5 - a light-rock station known for playing Christmas music in the fall - for a week or so. It's not clear what will air until then.

WJJZ is playing the Pussycat Dolls, Don't Cha.

Link to listen is: javascript:void(window.open('http://wjjz.com/cc-common/streaming...ght=420,status=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'))

Buzz, I just tried that link and, after opening a new window, got the following:

Not Found - Error 404
you've reached this page in error, please click here for our home page

BTW, for those out of market, JJZ for right now is in normal format. Currently spinning Michael McDonald "Sweet Freedom".

"Our Lips are Sealed" by the Go Gos?
"Celebration" by Kool and the Gang?

Doesn't sound like Cool Jazz to me.
Sounds more like a "Classic Hits" format.

I don't think the songs on the stream are the same as what's on the air. The "Playlist" page on wjjz.com shows completely different songs playing.

I think that you should record off of 106.1 FM and 104.5 FM instead of the stream

I'm out on Long Island (NY). Not recording, just listening.

Could all this be to take everyone's minds off of airport security...a new way the terorists are controlling us? Until my voice and your ears meet again...
