Super Bowl XLIII Ads: Winners and Losers

Let the discussion begin on this year's Super Bowl ads!
--

I wrote down 4 'winners' and 4 'losers' in last night's commercials:

Winners
- Doritos "Crystal Ball"
- NBC "LMAO Clinic"
- Hulu "Alec Baldwin"
- CareerBuilder.com "Tips"

Losers
- Both spots for GoDaddy.com: It was mildly funny the year after the Super Bowl, but they've run it into the ground.
- Pepsi's "MacGruber/PepSuber" ad: Anybody who doesn't watch Saturday Night Live was probably scratching their head...and definitely not laughing.
- Cheetos: When I was a kid Chester Cheetah was cool. Now he's just mean.
- All of the spots in 3D: The only thing I will remember from that is seeing my entire family wearing cheesy 3D glasses for about five minutes.

Other thoughts?

Admittedly, we missed a couple - so my post is comprised of (very) random observations:

- The Audi ad with the "Transporter" was really cool;

- The Pepsi ad with everyone getting clobbered was cool;

- The Pepsi "new generation" ad was far to PC for my taste, basically implying that white men are yesterday's news (pure gut reaction on my part - supported by others in the room). Didn't care for it;

- The Career Builder ad started out amusing, then seemed to go on and on and on. Felt like a 10 second ad squeezed into 3 minutes!

- The Cheetos ads were a mixed bag, a little mean-spirited yet amusing;

- The Bud ads were (as usual) entertaining;

- Doritos' "crystal ball" was dumb, yet hilarious. So was the one where the guy crunched and things happened;

- The godaddy.com ads were in bad taste (given the nature of the event) and a waste of time;

- We were out in the cold on the 3D ads as we had no clue to go out and get the glasses. I'll bet they were cool in 3D;

- Blinked and missed the High Life ;)

- Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head were a scream!

- The grease monkeys were amusing;

- "G" was a waste of Gatorade's money and our time.

You must have consumed a lot of booze to come that conclusion.

No Nate, we simply found it a bit offensive. A lot of protected groups in this country are offended by omissions and messages that are far more subtle than what was in this ad.

If you don't like my opinion of it, too bad.
