Syndicated shows that were uncleared in major markets (game shows, talk shows, etc.)

This is related to the "Late nighters in syndication" thread, only it deals with shows that didn't air at all in some cities. Again, I got my inspiration from the Game Show Forum:

For decades, there have a slew of syndicated game shows besides Wheel, Jeopardy, and Family Feud airing on many stations in the country's top markets. But then there were others that never saw the light of day in the country's top markets.

One huge example was "Every Second Counts." Even though it was cleared in Los Angeles and Chicago, it did not air in the #1 market: New York City!!! Then again, the show was doomed right from the start; it may or may not have aired on any or all of Group W's stations. (I did see it in L.A., because Phoenix (where I was living at the time) passed on it)

And on another board, I discussed the lesser-known shows Atlanta -- now a top 10 market -- got to see; the following that got bupkis clearance are:
Anything For Money
Make Me Laugh (Bobby Van; the former two would be rerun years later on USA Network)
Pitfall
$ale of the Century (nighttime)
Jeopardy! (Art Fleming nighttime)
Go For It! TV
Guilty or Innocent (the very forgotten courtroom/game show hybrid)
Anything You Can Do
Camouflage (I think, but have yet to look at any 1980 listings from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to confirm this)
The aforementioned Every Second Counts

Were there any others that the large markets said "NO" to?

Again, the same could be said for talk shows, newsmagazines, even some network shows. Here in the Memphis market, we never saw Anderson Live, while Kelly and Michael was MIA for one season.

One example that comes to my mind right away was Roseanne Barr's talk show from the early 2000s. Here is Los Angeles, KNBC carried the show only for its first season. KNBC replaced Roseanne's show with another talk show (I can't the name of it at the moment) the following fall, and her show's second season went unseen locally.

As far as off-network reruns, Sherman Hemsley's sitcom "Amen" was also never seen here locally. I know it aired in a few markets I'm familiar with (Chicago and Milwaukee come to mind). Another '80s/90s sitcom, "Head of the Class" didn't last here in off-network reruns either...KCOP originally carried it, as part of an early-evening lineup that included "The Cosby Show", "Growing Pains" and "Night Court", but the station pulled the reruns of "Head of the Class" within a year, and was never seen here locally again.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire has been off in Memphis for a few years now. It bounced around between WMC NBC 5, WPTY/WAVN ABC 24, and WLMT CW 30 before bring dropped completely in recent years.

No Wendy Williams, Maury, Jerry Springer, Everybody Loves Raymond, Access Hollywood, Bridezillas, Judge Faith, America's Court, Justice for All, Justice with Judge Mablean, Flip My Food with Chef Jeff, and several weekend E/I shows in Yakima/Tri-Cities. Also missing reruns of White Collar, The Border, Leverage and Republic of Doyle that air on weekends.
Wendy Williams did air on the CW Plus (KIMA/KEPR-DT2) until the end of the 13-14 season. America's Court had a double run at 9-10AM on KIMA-29 before The Price is Right, in 2010-11.

In Seattle, no Are We There Yet?, The Real, and a few Byron Allen courtroom shows as of 2015.
Half of the 1988-89 season of Regis & Kathie Lee was not seen in Seattle...it may have aired on KVOS-12 up in Bellingham. The first half was on KSTW-11, and by 1989-90 had moved to KOMO-4 at 9AM where it has been the past 26 years.
Only the 2011-2012 season of Jeremy Kyle was aired in Seattle as well...on KSTW-11 (CW). The 12-13 season was not seen in this market; you had to go to Yakima to see the show. It was also pulled off KPDX-49 in Portland in the 12-13 season I believe as well.

BTW johnnya2k6, Go for It! was seen nationwide over USA Network (at an odd 8:30AM E/P time slot, in between infomercials) in late 2001, and it moved to a much better noon E/P time slot on ABC Family for the 2nd 2002 season. But when syndicated repeats aired 2003-05, many larger markets did not get it for E/I credit. Portland OR didn't, and I don't believe anyone in Chicago cleared it either.
Same show got an overnight/early morning "doomed" time slot on WABC-7 in New York City, 5AM Saturday mornings. I guess I can count that as a "late nighter in syndication."

Camouflage (I think, but have yet to look at any 1980 listings from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to confirm this)

No, Camouflage did not clear Atlanta. Neither did the 1976 syndicated edition of Break The Bank.

I remember that Hill Street Blues ran on KCOP 13 and the colorized version of McHales Navy ran on weekends on KTLA 5 in Los Angeles. Neither ran very long and I do not remember if they ever came back. Also the colorized versions of McHales Navy were never released on DVD just the BW versions.

Camouflage (I think, but have yet to look at any 1980 listings from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to confirm this)

No, Camouflage did not clear Atlanta. Neither did the 1976 syndicated edition of Break The Bank.

I already said that on the original thread (which I started, by the way)!!! I also said Trivial Pursuit: America Plays wasn't aired in the ATL as well.

A few other shows that may have not have aired in Atlanta as well (unless listings say otherwise) are...
The Mouse Factory
Mickey Mouse Club ('70s)
Dick Clark's Nitetime (I think)
That Regis Philbin Show
Allen Ludden's Gallery
The Real Tom Kennedy Show
Dancin' To The Hits (unless WSB -- of all stations -- somehow picked it up)
Love Stories
The 20-Minute Workout (though similar show Morning Stretch was on WXIA)

Hill Street Blues returned in the L.A. market on KDOC/56.

CORRECTION: 20-Minute Workout and Dick Clark's Nitetime cleared Atlanta as well; both were on WAGA (though for "Workout", I was thinking WATL or even WSB had it).

The 1980s TV show "Guilty or Innocent" as far as I know was never cleared in either Washington DC or Baltimore back then. Come to think of it I don't think the show had cleared any market in the Virginias either ( Hampton Roads, Richmond, Charleston-Huntington, Roanoke-Lynchburg, Parkersburg..etc..) Back in those days I collected editions from TV Guide from many different cities and I just don't remember seeing the show listed in those versions of TV Guide.

When MAUDE was syndicated I don't believe it was cleared in DC & Baltimore either but it was in Hampton Roads, VA where WTVZ channel 33 had aired it for a brief time.

Kinda related to this thread but when Morton Downey Jr. was popular at first the show was not cleared in Denver. By the time Denver's KTVD channel 20 had picked it up Morton's show was on the way out and nobody cared anymore. I believe KTVD had picked up the show around the time of Mort's so-called San Francisco airport incident. Interesting footnote to this. In the Fall of 1988 when Morton's show was red hot ( yeah that may be a stretch ) but one night I can remember listening to Denver's KOA radio. Don't remember the name of the host but the topic was "trash TV talk shows". Even though Morton Downey was mentioned however the callers to KOA who did mentioned him were calling from out of town while to the Denver locals it was like "..who is this Morton guy ??".

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire hasn't been on for past few years in early years it was on Wood TV & then WZZM it hasn't been seen since fall of 2013 or 2014 GR,Kalamazoo, Battle Creek market. Access Hollywood at least early years 96,97,98 unless it came on very late only time I can remember Access Hollywood finally being cleared was 99 at 5:30PM on WOTV for a year I think moved to WZZM in fall of 2000 10:30AM moved to 7:30PM in fall of 2001 on WZZM after ET at 7PM. Access Hollywood moved back to WOTV in fall of 2004 at 7:30PM moved to Wood TV June 06 7:30PM where Access Hollywood has remained replaced Friends when it moved from Wood TV to Fox17 in June of 06.

The Jackson, Miss., market has a history, to me anyway, of passing on popular shows at the time. Right now, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly & Modern Family have never aired on any local stations. Good ones from the past missed in Jackson include Newhart, Murphy Brown, All in the Family, Maude, Bob Newhart Show & Carol Burnett & Friends. Some lesser ones missing from the past include the Nanny, Grace Under Fire, Unhappily Ever After, Caroline in the City & Susan Slept Here. And not to leave out the hour long shows as Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Chips, Fantasy Island, Dynasty, Matt Houston, Simon & Simon, The Fall Guy, Cannon, Barnaby Jones & Mannix. Recently dropped from locals were The Simpsons & Family Guy.

Celeb Page was finally cleared premier will be Monday on WXSP at 5PM replacing Cougar Town. Only way you could watch OK! TV now Celeb Page was on Reels late of night which I have watched it on Reels since 13.
