You get a cookie. Jamie, if you even paid attention to the broadcast for about 5 minutes you would have realized it was the Giants pregame, and as much as you listen to K-Rock, you know that it serves as the overflow spill for CBS' sports properties for WFAN.

I just noticed that in your quote you had "WCCC! Non-corporate radio". For an "independent" station, their playlist is extremely boring and predictable. Just goes to show you that just because you're not owned by a large corporation doesn't mean you still don't have to listen to "research" to determine the playlist...

apparently you don't listen to WCCC enough.. yes a corporation, and at times annoying but I don't call Marlin Broadcasting really much of company.
CCC, does Metallica A-Z, Ozzy A-Z, 80's weekend, 90's weekend, Live weekend, Cd Shoppers guide weekend, Friday Night Six Pack, noon, 6pm, 1pm , and 3am all request hours. 90's at noon, 80's at 8pm and 90's at 9pm. Live weekend, threesome thursday, live at 5pm, and a NO Repeat Workday

I'll second the support for WCCC. I've listened to them online and the times where I've traveled to Boston, and they are a far better station than any of the rock stations from NYC to Philly (that includes WXRK, WDHA, WRAT and WMMR). They have a much more diverse playlist and aren't afraid to throw some edgier acts into the mix like Killswitch Engage, which is more than I can say for what we have here. While most of these stations just crank out the Hinder, Nickelback, Daughtry and other corporate rock luminaries like there's no tomorrow, WCCC at least sounds the way a rock station should in 2007. And that's something that we need in this area. Too bad the tired, stodgy Greater Media (they own all of the aforementioned aside from WXRK) has so much of a cluster in this area - that's why terrestrial radio is so bland around here.

Again, it may be a contract thing. When the Giants/Nets/Devils signed their broadcast contract, they were promised that the overflow goes on K-Rock.

That being said, K-Rock's demos fit in very well with hockey and basketball and football. You're telling me that teenagers and young men aren't into sports? That's crazy talk.

I usally call it 20 min of music 10 min of adds/talk station... you must listen between 3-7pm when piccossi is on its the only time CCC can get irritating not including sabation in the morning... I call piccossi in the afternoon occationaly the worst time to listen to CCC however i don't know if CCC still does these two features but , with dumbass wednesday and altemo destructo thursday, the talk can get damn right funny and interesting for the outcome different each week. my fav time to listen is Jeff Slater on from 7-mid...

I think the most irritating thing about CCC is, back in the day, when Hartford had an alternative station (Radio 104) CCC used to compete with them in, not-so-subtle ways. Problem was, both stations playlists looked very similar. CCC would play some breaker/sweeper about how "hard" they rocked and then go into something like Everclear's "I Will Buy You A New Life." And, as for the local scene, Radio 104 did much more than CCC ever claimed.

I was able to clock radio 104.1 in portchester Ny many of times. and as far south as near exit 9 in Ct on 95 ( the min you turn the curve into stamford the station gets bled over by 104.3 and 103.9.
I miss radio 104.1 a lot... but I always loved CCC more.

Clear Channel killed Radio 104 because they were the #9 FM station in a 9 FM Station Market. Hartford. While 104 is still usually #9 in most books, their ratings as POWER are much higher than when they were Radio 104. Furthermore they achieved their goal of stealing listeners from CBS's HOT 93.7 FM. They're not #1 or #2 any more.
