Tallahassee's WHBT 1410 The Fan drop ESPN Radio

I didn't know utill today i found out that WHBT-AM 1410 Tallahassee drop ESPN to Heaven 1410 with gospel music. So Tallahassee has 3 AM stations that plays gospel music 1.WSTT-AM 730 Thomasville and 2. WTAL-AM 1450 some talk and gospel and now AM-1410 WHBT-AM Tallahassee. I still have my XM Radio if i went to go to ESPN Radio. Sounds like alot of ESPN Radio begins to go away slowly. The only sports AM radio in Tallahassee is WNLS-AM 1270 The Team.

Louis,

I believe they just made that switch today. Thay haven't even taken down the Fan web site as
of this afternoon.

1410 played black gospel music before switching to ESPN.

WSTT-AM 730 is live and local all day every day and has a CP to go to 25 kw, which I understand they are trying to complete. They actually showed in the last Tallahassee ratings, but were not in this one.

Speaking of ratings..there were a few surprises and a new #1 station this time around.

There are two more stations I believe. 1070 am and LP 105.7 both of which are Tallahassee Stations.
730 is in Thomasville GA.

Correct, WFRF-AM 1070 and WFRF-FM 105.7 are in Tallahassee. They have a Christian teaching and inspirational format primarily.

Seems like ESPN Radio is disappearing from so many terrestrial radio dials around the nation these days, Tallahassee included. Who knows, maybe ESPN Radio might resurface on the FM dial, like on 97.9, which is currently smooth jazz. After all, many stations are abandonding the smooth jazz format in droves, kind of, sort of.

I remeber Panama City's WASJ-FM 105.1 was smooth jazz then drop it to ESPN Radio for short time then they flip it again to 105.1 BOB-FM.

ESPN's ratings have been dismal in Tallahassee. The smooth jazz format is doing
better than ESPN radio ever did. WJZT is owned by a small company as well and has
the ability to do what it chooses.

Maybe if ESPN Radio were on a better signal in Tallahassee, it might still be hanging around down there. After all, it's tough to get even a small rating, let alone a decent one, when most people can't hear your station after dark, with such a low-powered signal on the AM dial.
