Tampa Ratings April 2024 - Mix Cracks Top 5; WFUS Drops From 2nd To 6th

Also Q105 drops to 10th; and FLZ also drops (what else is new).

Vibe up nicely in the newest trends.

The two country stations did a combined 10.8 in this book, 10.5 in the previous book. That's "wobble" territory. Their individual shares were down 0.1 and up 0.5, also within the wobble range. Nothing to see here, folks.
The good thing about RadioInsight's listings is that they include more books and we can see that most stations wander within a range. As long as they are "bouncing" rather than "sliding" it's just what you say... the normal wobble of a small sample.

I would imagine the Cox birds (Eagle and Dove) are putting pressure on Q105. One from the pop side, one from the rock side, and music from roughly the same time periods although I think Dove and Eagle lean a bit older than Q.

I agree. Also, I think that musically, The Dove reminds me more of how Q105 actually sounded in the ‘80s than today’s Q105 does.

How stupid is iHM for not picking up the Urban AC mantle when that opportunity was still available???

A 1.3 share is a complete and total embarrassment for 95.7.

Time to flip 95.7 to something else.

Absolutely! They miscalculated by trying to use 95.7 to keep down 94.1 and now they are both scraping the bottom of the barrel. Meanwhile Cox saw the opportunity for R&B and grabbed it. I think moving Rumba to 95.7 will be the next logical move.

I’ve noticed iHM seems to keep low performing Urbans in larger markets around despite low ratings. Chicago, LA, and NYC are examples of where an urban is getting a 2 share or less and have been for quite a while but the stations must bill well or something.

Those are also markets where they also have stations in the Top 5. Not every station in a cluster can be #1. So you have stations that go for ratings, such as WLIT or WLTW or KIIS, and you have stations that have more targeted goals with certain demographics.

The Breeze would compete with duv but it is a different sound. We don’t have a tru hot ac. The rhythmic format is quite variable based on the demo your chasing.
Wouldn't taking the WDUV approach any softer, which I assume is what you're hinting at, result in an advertiser--toxic audience of old folks?

100.7 used to be Hot AC. They dropped it for a reason. If I recall, they pivoted to mainstream AC due to Magic getting hotter and hotter, thus leaving a void.

Isn’t 94.9 considered Hot AC?
