Since January, three Coxers (Eagle, Hot and X) have been trending downward while three Beasleys (Q105, QYK and Wild) have been trending upward. All this, coincidentally, since Bubba's return. Hmmm...

I've noticed that the Tampa/St. Pete part of Radio Discussions has been quiet lately. Maybe some of the folks over at Cox were told to shut up and stop posting online.

There's no coincidence to what's going on here. Bubba 98.7 is slowly eating away at Cox's cash cows. Look, I know a lot of people said it wouldn't fly, and some of the blowhards (read wannabe consultants) told me I was the only person who could get down with such an eclectic format. Well, apparently they were wrong. The other night I was coming home in the car, and Bubba 98.7 went from LL Cool J to Metallica or some other heavy metal band, and I smiled. It feels so good being right, if I haven't said "I told you so" already, I just did (again?)... and I absolutely adore the fact that the person who decided to make such a bold move just so happens to the same guy that so many of you despise... it's so sweet... and to think the same week that Cox fired Bubba they also rejected my application... two very foolish moves on their part :)

I don't work for Beasley, I don't even work in radio anymore. But they can send me a check if they feel like it, I'd be glad to deposit it in my account. I don't need payment for my comments though. I honestly like what they're doing. So far they're the only company to try such an experimental format in THIS market. I'm sure they'll do something to tick me off eventually, but right now it sounds good to my ears. What can I say?
