TBS Hopes America Has Had Enough "Sausages" In Late-Night TV

The network released a promo for its new late-night show to be hosted by Samantha Bee, formerly of "The Daily Show." Her show would likely air after "Conan" - which, notice he isn't any of the "sausages" erected in the exhibit in this promo?

The lack of female hosts in late-night TV has more to do with their approach. The late Joan Rivers capitalized on her subbing for Carson and the result was the first-ever program on what was then known as Fox Broadcasting Company. (Fox also gave us a talk show hosted by Wanda Sykes, albeit it aired on Saturday nights.)

Since Rivers, attempts at daily late-night TV, from Whoopi Goldberg to Stephanie Miller, were cute at best. (Does anybody remember "My Talk Show"?) Chelsea Handler's E! show was more brash (and lasted far longer) than the aforementioned combined, and in return was granted a new show on Netflix. Ms. Bee stands as good of a chance if she follows the same vein as "Chelsea Lately."

On the other hand, the promo, in which she declares herself "female as (bleep)", tends to try way too hard to generate buzz (pardon the pun).
