I endured a pool party full of people's kids. They were blasting WILD 98 and 93.3FLZ. Both stations had jocks on doing an old school night time high intensity screaming deal and both talked about the remotes they were doing and going to do. Does this mean that both these stations are live and local evenings ? If so, what a way cool throw back experience to Cousin Brucie v. BMR. OMG

Yes, the jocks are live when they're not on tape. Even some commercial remotes are faked with crowd noise sound effects under a pre-taped plug. It's commonplace when the station, not the talent, is the only one getting paid for the endorsement.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's a pain though when they say they're going to be somewhere, and then you get there, only to be told that either they cancelled or "left early."

Or worse yet when you promote the hell out of a remote at a local water park on one of the hottest days of summer and only ONE listener shows up....we knew then the format was in trouble and the station wasn't long for the world.

...that was your first clue, really?

No, our first clue was being on a AM freq that had severe nightime limitations, being owned by a group of lawyers [NEVER believe what an attorney says], having to bring our OWN records in to play because when people requested a song more than likely it wasn't in the library and when giving away things ("be the 10th caller to win...whatever"), no one called or it was the same person that had been hung up on 9 times before he was caller 10...and this was the early to mid 80s.
