Teenager climbs KCAU tower and gets charged with a felony

The mental health system failed again.

How so? Theres no indication yet if he was suffering from a mental health incident.... or if he was high or drunk. The later arent necessarily mental health incidents.

If he was having some kind of psychotic break, thats possible.

Was he just a wild teenager who thought this would be fun? Theyve done stupider things.

WE dont know yet.

How did they rescue him? It says "fire department dikd a high angle rescue... im going to guess a helicopter?

Normal, stupid, or wild people don't do 1500 feet. 1500 feet is higher than the Sears / Willis building in Chicago. I will give credit for physical conditioning. I had to go up 31 floors in a stairwell once because the condo elevator was elevator out. Thought I was going to die. And that was stairs not climbing straight up on metal rungs. I wonder if he had a safety belt? If he is not crazy I am sure there are tower crews that could use him.

From the article:
"The sheriff’s office says Le Mars, Hinton, and Kinglsey Police Departments; The Iowa State Patrol; Hinton Fire and Ambulance; and Sioux City Fire Rescue and KCAU staff assisted with the response to the incident."

Why did three police departments and the state patrol go there, they can't all arrest him and the tower isn't in multiple counties.

Most law enforcement agencies have "mutual aid" deals with surrounding agencies. Most fire departments have them too. Not every Sheriff's department has trained people to deal with suicide on duty 24 / 7. If there was a crowd, you might need the extra officers to keep people safe.
