If they did this all the way across the boards, they'd be displacing a lot of highly-regarded meteorologists in a lot of markets. Local viewers wouldn't be pleased.

This is a flop better not do that when there is a a tornado outbreak or a major line of damaging thunderstorms etc.

Nothing to do with what is best for the viewer. It is all to cut costs and hit their revenue target.

Maybe this is an excuse to "clean house" before Tegna takes over ? Not sure how it is elsewhere, but central PA airs a lot of promos for "weather teams", whether it's 3 guys, 4 guys, or 2 gals and 3 guys. Point being that "we're your local weather family", trust us. Advertisers know these folks get the eyeballs, especially during active tornado warnings and extended severe (snow) storms. While I'm sure Nexstar will pair-up same-market meterologists with Tegna, it makes little sense to pool regional meteorologists.
