Tennessee Top 40 Stations of the 1980s on FM

My mother mentioned hearing an ad from them on the air sometime in the late '90s seeking people to work for them! But I had moved away from that area by then, and had long since lost interest in working for them! ::)

Believe it or not, I remember that ad...they were looking for reliable board operators for sporting events and syndicated shows....not actual DJs.

KF and KQ ran the same playlist with different DJ's (one in Union City and one in Paris) for quite some time. Ultimately, Hailey combined the stations to simulcast as KF/KQ and added Ace and TJ in the morning.

I've heard stories about Hailey back in the day...he's always run a tight board and station.

Actually Z-103 was a very good sounding radio station, with the likes of Big Steve Kelly, & Bobby Knight..it just happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time..

Unless I missed it, no one has mentioned WOKI Oak Ridge/Knoxville and their giant signal. They were Top 40/Rock for East Tennessee, Southern Kentucky and even Southwest Virginia.

Modification......I see WOKI was mentioned in the first post.......never mind.
