Terry Gilberg in the morning? Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! (550 KFYI)

This is nice! Terry, then Nearly Famous? Following the news hour show? Makes for great all night into morning talk radio! Geez. When you leave radio for a while, things surely do change. 89.5 and 95.5 have been feeding off of me for the past month or so.

Anyway, going to sleep now, so any mixes on Fiesta Friday on KKFR this Friday I will have to miss :( but if I shall want mixes other than my own later on, it's ok because KZON will surely take care of me tonight. I guess no Nearly Famous for me this morning either.

Mon-Fri 5a-7a, Sat 7p-9p, Sun 6p-9pm. It's the All Terry Gilberg, All The Time format on KFWhyEYE ;D

Bring back Bruce Jacobs, mornings and KFYI need him.......

I've posted about Terry before and I have continued to listen periodically... the more I listen the more I find her intolerable. It's as if someone gave a school teacher a microphone and is lecturing us on news events.

From a technical standpoint: Her discussions frequently wander off into several different directions lacking focus and making any points he makes seem lost in her own inability to articulate herself. Moreover, when it comes to any issues of pop culture it is laughable how little she knows... not only is she "unhip", but really sounds like about a 60 year old woman. I don't need to feel like I'm being talked down to by anyone either... when she says things like "par-lam-an-tare-ee-an" and says it in a lecturing way so as to emphasize her point, it really sounds condescending. If you're going to be a talk show host... particularly on KFYI--a station known for it's more outspoken personalities throughout the years--then perhaps it would be best to not have such a monotone inflection as well. How about a little passion? Hearing her show really does invoke quite a bit of anger... if we're just handing out talk show jobs, where's mine?

Frankly, this is quite encouraging for me to get my talk show on the air... because this does demonstrate that anyone can get a talk show!

Terry seems like a nice lady but tonight when her show started she said she's excited about the Oscars but wished Steve Martin was hosting. He IS hosting. I don't watch TV and I'm not interested in the Oscars (well, maybe the Jeff Bridges movie), but I know who's hosting. It's hard to miss if you have a computer or listen to the radio. She has a hectic schedule to be sure while KFYI is going through this transition, but if you're going to speak to a topic, even a trivial one like the Oscars, you'll have more credibility if you speak the facts.

I find her screechy and ill informed. I agree that I don't think she really researches much, but its all her opinion, but that is usually based on something she is unclear about.

I can't listen to her for long.

(from Tues 3/16) Al Ka Pool Co for Acapulco. And "....parents, think twice about letting your kids go to Alkapoolco or Juarez, MX for spring break.." Juarez for spring break??? YIKES!!

I bet changes are coming to that time slot. People want something to listen to on the drive in, replace the very nice school teacher and you will get listeners back. There are good options out there to put in the seat for pete's sake. Come on......

Broomhead is permament in PM drive (or as permanent as anything gets in radio), but Gilberg is strictly a stop-gap (unless by some miracle she gets amazing numbers, I suppose.)

Boy I hate to sound like the negative person but Broomhead is kind of a dork. I realize he isnt going anywhere, so that means I have to hope Smokey will make the AM changes. How good it would be to hear Jacobs again........

Filling 5 - 7am with someone really strong is just about impossible given the two hours. And there's no way you can talk the Nearly Bald One into an earlier start. Then what's the point of making a change, unless you want to play mind games on the Master Blogger and get Austin Hill to do it? (hey..Nurse Jeff and I like that idea) PMD is an easier shift to fill with fresh talent. Perish the thought that JD Loudmouth loses his primary bid as that's who'll probably return to afternoons on KFWhyEye. Then Broomhead can return to 5-7am and Terry Gilberg is the Weekend Wonder Woman.

Problem solved, thanks to the Esteemed Middle Eastern Men of the Media!

I heard a rumor Jacobs is being considered for the AM drive, has anyone else heard that? How cool would that be........

We need something that's interesting, with someone (preferably a team of people together) who is capable of doing an exceptional job of presenting a variety of hot issues mixed with news in that 5-7 time slot. It just sounds appropriate for that time. I do enjoy that type of show, similar to how it's done from 4-5am, but maybe with more of an interactive talk morning show feel to it.

Honestly, I haven't listened to Terry Gilberg yet, since I'm rarely awake at that time, but from past experiences of listening to her, I figured it would be a good fit since I did love listening to her in 2006 and 2007 on Sunday's. I love the way she speaks, arranges and chooses her wording, and the way in which she conducts her show. I also love the fact that she does cover a variety of topics, rather than always leaning towards one main area of discussion with multiple topics stemming off the one main issue.

I doubt that we will find anyone to outshine Barry Young, but it would be nice to find someone who is a good preceder to his show, that builds up the "energy" to his show. Bruce Jacobs and a few others do sound better in afternoons in my opinion. Mike Broomhead, who I also like, I say also sounds better in an after - noon (meaning after morning ends) weekday slot, or a morning weekend slot. KFYI should also make their Sat. & Sun. shows more interesting, and that's probably also a good place to give certain people more airtime, if they are willing. Bob Martin is good where he is, and Kim Commando is as well, but we need more interesting informative shows in addition to those. Leo Laporte following by Bill Handel, with some Broomhead or Gilberg action followed by Coast to Coast was good enough for me, even though somewhere along that flow something just doesn't really fit in... They could bring back the Leo following Handel, with The Best of Nearly Famous Barry Young coming in between Leo and Coast to Coast, with Broomhead and a few others coming on before Handel on The Law, for Sundays.

All three hours of Kim Komando would be nice on weekends.

And live too, 7-10 AM.

Oh, but that would disrupt the "show" they have on from 8 AM-noon. ::)

You mean "Doctor" Bob and his traveling snake oil sales pitch infomercial?

Amazed that the quack is still on the air.

Well, never mind what I said about Jacobs and KFYI. Looks like he is filling in for Ankarlo today at KTAR. Good move KTAR.

Interesting move on KTAR's part. I'm not sure I would plug Jacobs in for a full-time slot on the news side of the station, if Ankarlo were to separate from Bonneville, but I would definitely plug him into any available sports slot. He is better suited for sports, in my humble opinion.

A tip of the fez to the Master Blogger for letting Jacobs play in the 92~Three sandbox! He's a great talent, whether he's doing sports or talk and most people can relate to him. Not quite the goofball as Gaydos. Now here's something Nurse Jeff and I've been kickin' around: Aunt Carlos has been out all of March and not a sign of his return. hmmmmmmmm.
