NASHVILLE, TN, June 7, 2022 (CelebrityAccess) – Jim Seals of the 1970’s soft rock duo Seals & Crofts has died at the age of 80. No details surrounding his death have been released.

I liked Seals and Crofts.
Me too. They torpedoed their career at its peak by following "We May Never Pass This Way (Again)" with the anti-abortion plea "Unborn Child," a total misreading of the room by Warner Brothers. They didn't recover for two years, with the No. 6 "Get Closer."

I saw Seals & Crofts in concert once in the late '70s. Wonderful memories! When the music concluded, the duo invited the audience to remain for a talk about the Baháʼí Faith.

Warner Brothers did not want the track on the album, and in all fairness the album was weak.... but it did get a lot of backlash due to that track. Their faith was more important to them than the money, and there are interviews with them that quote them saying that.

The long intro to "Hummingbird" -- which some stations played and others didn't -- was Baha'i-based and I thought added a lot to the song, even for people unfamiliar with the religious imagery.

Another famous musician passes away to the heavens. 'Summer Breeze,' 'Get Closer to Me,' 'Hummingbird,' they ruled the roost in '70s soft rock and yacht rock.
RIP Jim!
