Texas Radio Hall of Fame nominations

Haley went back to work at KVIL as Ron's producer (or similar capacity) in Ron's waning days there. I don't think she made the move to KLUV when he did. Then Haley was doing production for Jack-FM for a while, but got laid off a couple of years ago. (We had a 'Lunch Bunch' the very day she was let go, and it was the only time she made one of our outings. Someone still has her denim jacket she left behind that day.) Concurrently, she was doing Sunday afternoons at KVIL while working for Jack. MUCH more tame-sounding than in her old days at KVIL, but that may have been at Kurt's request.

Remember, "K-V-I-'making the night come alive'---L !!"?

No idea what she's doing now. I have an email address for her, but she never responds to the Lunch Bunch announcements I send out.

Mike,

Thanks for the info. I thought that she was working behind the scenes toward the end of
Ron Chapman's time at KVIL. I didnt hear her Sunday afternoons on KVIL. I pretty much stopped listening to them after Ron moved to KLUV. Hope she's doing well. Maybe she'll be able to make it to another Lunch Bunch sometime. & yes I remember the "makin' the night come alive" jingle. & don't forget that "Croquet is Okay" ;D

A good posthumous "behind the scenes" nominee would be Sandy Hopkins. (Most readers of this will know that she was Ron Chapman's Producer at KVIL for a number of years. I'm not sure how many.) I don't have the contact info needed to write up the nomination or I would send it in.

I nominate a handful every year. I don't recall that any of my nominations other than Scott Arthur made it.

TRHF needs to figure out how to give those who served for years in smaller Texas markets an equal opportunity. One perfect example is Vandy Anderson, Jr., who worked and later managed Galveston's KGBC for at least 40 years. He and his station led Galveston residents through more storms and hurricanes than any other new source, including Houston's big stations.

Anyway, I nominated him again this year along with Bill "Rascal" McCaskill and Walter Hammock. I wish all three would be elected.
