Thank you 950 ESPN for airing every NFL playoff game in the 2008-09 season. I'm glad that there's a station in town that is willing to air every NFL playoff game this season. Today's Chargers/Steelers game will be broadcasted on 950 AM today (joined in progress approx 6, 6:30PM) after the Eagles post game show which starts after the Eagles game is over.

Well, this was a big game for the Eagles, and a bitter rivalry with the Giants. It's a good idea to air the post game show on 950 AM, because 950 can be heard at Giants stadium, 94.1 can't, and a lot of Eagles fans made the long trip up the Turnpike. One more win and they're in the Super Bowl.

Sam Lit, you have a lot of negative things to say about sports and sports radio for a guy who has never had a career on radio doing anything I have heard about.

People in Philly care more about Sports than which 2-bit music station is flipping to the same tired oldies and other songs played on 8 or 10 other stations.

It's ain't 1971 anymore and WFIL, WIBG are long gone. Even the FM music stations don't matter.

Remember the Phillies run to the World Series? Now with the Eagles going to the the NFC title game, if they win, Barrack Obama's innaguration won't even measure a blip in this city and music stations may as well sign off the air.

WFIL, WIBG? What are you talking about? I don't have anything against sports programming. I love endless banter about regurgitated nonsense, doesn't everybody? I just think that 950 ESPN's 43,000 watts is a colossal waste of electricity. That's all. So what if police radio has a higher cume than 950, or if more people listen for gale warnings with a weather crystal than listen to 950. What does that have to do with WFIL or WIBG?

Now can we work on not having about 15 seconds of delay? If the WW1 games are on ANYwhere else (WFAN, WBAL, anywhere but WPEN) I am listening there. The talk and/or IBOC delay is preposterous for live sporting events.

I would like the posters to contact the station about that and the audio at night on the station is very bad. At times, I can't understand what words are being said. http://950espn.com/Station/ContactUs/tabid/60/Default.aspx

If you take your radio to the game, a delay is bad. Otherwise, it is useful for syncing up your DVR to the radio if you don't like the TV announcers.

WIP is running a promo with the tagline, "When you think NFL playoffs, think WIP." Wonder if they'd still follow through if the Eagles were out of contention...

Nope.

The tag line should be "when you think Eagles, even during a Super Bowl they're not playing in or in the middle of the summer with the Phillies in the thick of a pennant race, think SportsRadio 610 WIP."

Is WPEN now using the 43,000W power by day? I haven't seen anything in the FCC actions indicating that that is the case. But I often miss such items.

This is a real simple one folks. Repeat after me: Local sports radio in the Philadelphia market is an abomination. Now...don't we all feel better so we can move on with our lives as sports fans?

CP

I knew about the CP; I think it was granted about a year ago. But I interpreted your earlier post to mean the CP was now on the air. I gather that that's not the case, but since I'm 300 miles away and with a local co-channel besides, there is no way I can check it out.
