The 7th Season of Hu$tle premiered this week - and we still can't see it.

The first episode of Hu$tle's seventh season (or "series seven" as they say in the UK) aired on BBC One Friday night. The show, if you didn't see any of the first four seasons on AMC, is about a group of London long con artists and stars Adrian Lester and the great Robert Vaughn. We haven't gotten to see the fifth or sixth seasons in the US and it looks like we won't get to see this one either - at least not on any of the regular cable channels. AMC dropped the show after almost destroying the show when the channel got involved in the production of season four (Adrian Lester pulled out but came back for subsequent seasons in which AMC was not involved and nobody was trying to "Americanize" the show). BBC America shows no inclination to pick up this BBC production (although the show does air on BBC Canada). Maybe AMC still holds rights to the show and is trying things up. The show got great reviews originally (except season four) and did develop a decent following here.

I watched the season seven first episode online and it was excellent. The group plays the classic Spanish Prisoner con on four marks simultaneously. The script was smart and often funny. The actors are excellent in their roles (as their characters and as the characters each plays as part of the con). It is at least as good as The Sting, and sometimes better. It's the best show about grifters since James Garner left Maverick.

The first four seasons are available in the US on DVD. Seasons five and six have been released on DVD in Europe, but again, not here. It's a great and extremely entertaining show. Whoever is keeping this show out of the US, shame on you.

What about Canada, as BBC Canada aired all six seasons?
