The 91.5 FM Translator In Montgomery Is Moving to 102.3 FM

As they say in the golf tournaments, "Could we get a ruling on that?"

There are NCE FMs that are in the "non-reserved" band (92.1 - 107.9) If it was originally granted as an NCE, then you cannot buy it and convert it to commercial use. It did not go through the competitive bidding process and did not "buy" it's place on the dial.

So what are the rules about taking a translator in the reserved band, moving to a new frequency and becoming a satellite for a commercial station. I don't know! Curious minds need to know@
 
They're not doing a good job at keeping their info accurate.

Last time I was in the Gump, 91.5 FM was still doing WAY FM. That visit took place a few months ago.

I wonder if WAY FM will remain on this translator, once the move and upgrade is completed? Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't know what info is on the FCC database for this translator (I just checked it a minute ago and the site was down). Recnet, however, is now showing WXFX as the station being rebroadcast. I believe all of recnet's updates come directly from the FCC site; it's probably showing the same info there as well. Wonder what all is up with all of that...? WXFX covers that entire area, anyway with the main signal. ??? Does WAY-FM still own that translator or has it been sold to Cumulus (since Cumulus owns WXFX). Maybe Cumulus is looking to put a simulcast of WLWI-AM (or WMSP) on that translator.
 
Okay, so here's the skinny. New FCC translator regulations allow "fill in" service for AM stations. The same regulations also allow HD2 channels to be rebroadcast as fill-in service PROVIDED they are not in the "restricted " (read non-com) band. These changes will allow whatever is on XFX HD2 to be rebroadcast. So, has cumulus leased XFX HD2 to someone or do they have plans to use it themselves? Guess we'll all see soon.
 
I hear they have HD2 coming... but I don't know if the person who told me really knows...could just be talk.
 
I bet if Tim James gets elected... he will move to do away with translators. All stations will have to broadcast in English.... and there will be no more C1, C2, C3.... just big... little.. and medium.
 
If Ron Sparks gets elected we'll all win the lottery and won't have to work.
