Not good to see KLG/Hoda late nights. If I was running an NBC affiliate (or the network) it would be Leno/Fallon/Carson Daly, followed by a 30-minute overnight newscast (at 2:05) IF affiliates want to, then give it back to the locals for sign-off/infomercial/Byron Allen filler, etc.-crainbebo

I hope you mean a repeat of the 10:00 news. I would hate to keep the news anchors up that late, just to report news to insomniacs.

It's all filler at 2AM. Of course some local station's programming at that time is actually better than in later in the day.

All three of our local stations now start their broadcast day at 4:00 a.m., so that is really only a couple of hours to fill. And Time-Life infomercials (which also air on Saturday evenings) can be more entertaining than any network fare that it might be pre-empting.

The fourth hour of Today still doesn't get 100% clearance nationwide

And probably never will. Even Later Today back around 2000 was better than this. And it didn't hurt that Jodie Applegate was a total hottie!

I still miss "Barely Today."

Remember NBC's Nightside in the 90s? That, and WNN and UTTM (ABC/CBS, still running) reported to insomniacs.

Actually, I thought you were referring to local news. Yeah, I'm sure that there is enough of a nationwide audience for network news. And some of those overnight women are pretty hot!

Has anyone else noticed that the 3AM "week-ago" repeat of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has been replaced with Leno? Why can't just NBC repeat The Tonight Show at 2 and Fallon at 3?

For a while it was The Best of Leno at 2:05 and The Best of Conan at 3:05. Then sometime after Conan was bounced off NBC they put Poker on at 2:05 and The Best of Leno at 3:05. Not sure if they ever aired The Best of Fallon.

I was one of those late night owls that watched World News Now back around the dotcom bubble burst. I had it on as filler as I coded away but I was still entertained and somewhat informed. I remember the Thalia Assuras and Mark Mullen season and Mark Mullen and Asha Blake season fondly. ABC News was still on the top of their game back then with Ted Koppel still hosting Nightline, with which WNN would pull segments for Then & Now.

What separated WNN from the rest was it's whimsical offbeat character at times. The later segment blocks got downright goofy with the anchors taking care of their Tamagachis (the craze at the time). Tamagachis were even housed the the ABC News set logo behind the anchor's desks. WNN was a fun show in the early to mid 90's. I doubt it retains any of that charm today.

How bout if they bring back the NBC overnight news?

You would think they would considering they have MSNBC reports as stock of potential anchors whom careers could be launched from the overnight block of news on the NBC network itself.

What was "Kathie Lee and Hoda" and "In Wine Country"? Never heard of them. Which explains why NBC's late night is in the tank.

"Kathie Lee and Hoda" is the 4th hour of the Today Show, which has been "dubbed" such in the past year. "In Wine Country" is a local show produced by San Francisco Bay Area NBC O&O station KNTV, but recently piped to the network at an overnight and weekend timeslot filler.

I thought "Kathie Lee and Hoda" WAS "In Wine Country". The ladies do hit the sauce. They may become a huge hit with the late night college-drinking crowd. Fallon featured beer pong many times on his program.
