"THE BEST OF LAUGH-IN" ON PBS THIS MONTH

Nixon was on Laugh In before he was President. A lot credit has been given to the appearance restarting his political career.

That's an over-statement. He appeared on Laugh In during September 68 - he had already secured the Republican nomination for President, so his career was already on the rise. He had the image as a stodgy humorless guy, so it may have helped his image and garnered him a few extra votes.

As the story goes, they asked Hubert Humphrey (the Democrat nominee) to come on the show too, but he declined.

Also after: I believe there was a clip of Rowan and Martin giving Nixon the key to Beautiful Downtown Burbank, and thanking him for being a good sport! :D

Well, this was a pretty close election, and I'm sure Nixon's appearance on Laugh-In helped him. Enough to make a difference, not sure. But it certainly didn't hurt him.
