The best thing radio one did when they were here in louisville...

When they flipped love 102.3 to the max other then that so long to radio one. Can't think of anything else they did i cared for.Yes i will give them credit for doing some things for the community like when the max does there dare to care thing but as far as programming goes going from lrs 102 to love 102.3 to the max.Love not good lrs at 102 so so but the max pretty good.Good luck mainline!!!

When Radio One entered this market, there wasn't a true R&B Adult outlet available in the Louisville market. WMJM-FM 101.3 was involved in a trend with the Jammin' Oldies format. WGZB and WBLO were targeted towards the hip hop audience. When Radio One switched WMJM-FM 101.3 back to the Urban AC format, it was a great welcome to me. It was the best thing Radio One had done in my book because not everyone desired to hear vulgar hip hop music.

Props, KY Scott! Very funny! :D

Well think about it, what did they do while here? They brought the "Russ Bus" here a few times. As I understand it, there was a huge melee at this year's show. They screwed up the legendary rock station WLRS. Have you seen the numbers for the heritage CHR station, DJX? They are nothing what they used to be. They were more interested in getting the name "Radio One" out than they were at promoting any of their stations. I hope Main Line is more community orientated than Radio One was. Radio One was too busy kissing Wall Street's ass.

You can thank cc matthews for the downfall of djx.I felt the station sounded best when chris shebel ran it and karen rite who use to program she 93.1.I mean in a certain trend i remember he took djx from #3 to #6 and then clear channel hired him???

According to the latest trends, looks like DJX is back! They are smokin KISS

..... they finally left.
Disgruntled ex?

Nah, just tired of seeing these companies put shareholder value before listener value. I have the same bones to pick with Clear Channel, has anyone listened to WHAS lately? It used to be 5 minutes of LOCAL news at the top of the hour, we are lucky to get one minute now with Fox News and 4 minutes of spots/promos. There is no local on the weekends.

That's not really hard to do. They have always had better numbers than Kiss. However, go back to the pre-Radio One days and you'll see the don't have near the numbers they used to.

Hey kyscott why do you think they don't have the numbers they use to???They have competition they use to not have.I think djx is a much better station than kiss is!!!For one everyone is local!!!

No. Djx has not always had better numbers in recent years. Kiss has beat djx 18-34 in a lot of surveys. djx doesn't have anywhere near the numbers they used to have. Kiss, no matter how you slice it, has hurt djx. usually djx was 3rd or 2nd back in the day 12 plus and a runaway number one 18-34. Now they are 5th, not bad for the last 10 years, but still not as good as the 90's and 80's.

Yes djx has had ok ratings over the last 2 books, but they BOUGHT the numbers and I didn't hear KISS spending a dime! DJX $10,000 Fugitive, Tv, mass marketing, cash, etc, djx has munipulated the last several books. For KISS to just sit there and do nothing promotionally, very few personal appearances, and to do as well as they have with very little marketing and a poor Louisville signal says a lot against a station that has been there since the early 80's with the most powerful signal in the market. I KNOW someone will disagree. Thanks! Both stations are good, but KISS is hangin in there!

I was pretty much gonna say what Chris here said. The mid and late 90's saw the ratings as WHAS and WAMZ in the first and second spots followed by WDJX then everyone else took what was left. DJX has been passed in some ratings by it's sister WMJM and B-96. Two stations with much weaker signals that WDJX's 24kW stick. Radio One's stewardship of that cluster has not been good for those stations. Which is the reason that Radio One is getting out of the market I suppose. It's too tough for them, they might have to actually spend some money on a promotional budget, so they are bailing. Same thing happening in Dayton and Augusta Georgia. The competition is tight so Radio One bails. It's not like their stock is setting Wall Street on fire or anything.

No good thing. I hate Radio One. The worst thing was to never stream their radio stations, thus making me sick and tired of the same ones ALL THE TIME when the KY stations are one of the most interesting ones! Gosh, I should come to KY - will one of these days!
