The "Bull" looking for a female voice in the morning

Why?

Why is this "THE" formula? Why do we need a "Female" perspective on EVERY show?
Ugh... this is why radio stinks. And nice use of capital letters Clear Channel!

Why does Clear Channel still pretend to be in the business?

My gosh, do you people EVER have anything positive to say? The Bull finally gets someone local, and you gripe. Now they try to get their first female on the entire station, what happens, you gripe. I don't hear the complaints about Kristen over at Kicks....oh, that's right, they're not owned by Clear Channel, so we can't be negative.
I think it's a great move. It's proven to work at Kicks, Star (both am and pm drive) and many others. I hope it works well. I also hope they to some local news in there as well. Rob Sadler's available.

Translation: We need a female host that can double as a board-op for the ISDN-fed Cledus.

"CLEDUS T. JUDD"

I wonder how many focus groups were polled prior to coming up with that one?

The reason you want a female is because when you have a female, it usually helps you with the female demo. Which, as you should know, is a very nice demo for advertisers. And really, at the end of the date, it only matters to whom and for how much a radio company can sell ad spots.

And, you're way off on the ISDN thing, unless you think he's planning on broadcasting from his new home in the Atlanta 'burbs. Cledus is from Cartersville and he's been wanting to get closer to home. If my info is correct, he's been back up there looking for a place to live. He also wanted to get closer to his daughter, who is in Kentucky.

As far as the name goes, there probably weren't any focus groups because that name wasn't created for radio. He has sold somewhere between 4 and 5 million albums as a recording artist, doing parodies to popular country songs. I believe he has also had a #1 record on the comedy charts and toured with people like Toby Keith, Brooks and Dunn, Brad Paisley, Shenia Twain, etc.... He was in that business long before he ever got into radio.

Not that I would expect anyone here to actually do any research before they threw someone under the bus...

My question was more rhetorical... I know why they do it, I just think it's a tired formula. And to the person that said it's working for "Kicks." Uh... ask Caddy if he likes having Kristen in the morning. He'll even tell you his show was better when it was just him.

That may be so, but how are the ratings? I'm sure if the ratings suffered because of Kristen, that she'd be gone in a heartbeat, especially given Caddy's clout and longevity at the station. Am I wrong?

Ratings are not great. 10th in the summer book 25-54... Not even top 10 18-45. I don't have the 18-34 numbers handy. They are definitely NOT outperforming the station in morning drive like most stations. I would love to see Kicks let Caddy do his thing without Kristen. Maybe build the show with people he wants.

Hmm, if Aly could handle country radio...she might work out on The Bull (Project vs The Bull = Hard Rock/Heavy Metal vs Country, who wins in most people's heads?).

But yeah, I think that most radio stations are adding more women in the morning on the talk shows as a way of having someone to "connect" with the young professional woman.

Too many morning show shifts around here...what's next? Chris or Rich Robinson from the Black Crowes on Project's morning show? With some random woman.

Sheila Richards would be PERFECT! Former J93 morning show co-host and former country morning host in Shreveport where she once won personality of the year awards. Man I miss hearing her on the air!

She was Kelli Richards in Shreveport. Is she still in Atlanta? I can't believe another country station in another market didn't snatch her up.
