Madison's Top 40 radio station gave West Towne Mall the kiss-off Thursday, taking its contest and going home.

An upcoming kissing contest at West Towne Mall is generating controversy among lesbian and gay advocates because the rules exclude same-sex couples.

The second annual "Connie and Fish Kiss-Off," sponsored by the Top 40 radio station Z104 FM, will involve 30 listeners and their partners to kiss in front of Boston Store starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The pair that locks lips the longest will win a trip to Jamaica.

The rules posted on the Z104 Web site, www.z104fm.com, as of Wednesday night say "contestants in the contest must be of the opposite sex." ...

WKSC "103.5 KISS FM" In Chicago is doing a similar contest except the contestants are kissing a hummer. They did a kiss off like the one Z-104 is doing couple years ago.


I can see why some people are upset but I can also understand the mall's rules. It is their property.

So with that, I think they did the right thing by moving it to the studios.

Wether the station did this to make themselves look better or they really care, way to go. The small should be ashamed for being discriminatory of gays. It's sad in this day and age when weve een taught to be accepting....... so many higher ups who run things obviously never learned that lesson.

Just think about it.. do you care to even try to think of all the gay people who work in radio? Where would we be today without them?
