The Crash and Burn of KKDJ

It's Friday drive time and Mr. White has decided to play DJ/VJ with the "t.v." station (which, IMO, the dumbest idea ever.) As a LISTENER, it doesn't work. Sorry.
That VJCEW (well, that’s how he signs paperwork with the FCC) took to the air with an infomercial for TV doesn’t surprise me.
It’s simply so damn frustrating that the dollars are not there to take this concept of what radio could be to where it’s consistently listenable.
If we look at what’s next from IHeart, I guess we can look forward to a rebranded “Breeze” filling the air in Fresno with yet another version of the same old tired crap, just softer, so we can sleep to the music at work. It’s like Xanax for your earbuds.
Dean’s sign-off today was a reminder that this is a work in progress, and what we hear is not representative of all that’s going on to create something different. Understand and agree. But, White breaking format on that very day as GM clearly says he’s not on-board. Sad.
Granted, I dislike Fresno radio. Serious crap. If not for KFSR and Dean and Skip, I’d be 100% streaming. I don’t need to be spoon fed ZZTop every hour from either FOX or White’s side of KKDJ and prefer my Xanax in pill form and not from Wings Beneath My Feet in a hot rotation on the Breeze (should it come to that),
Anyone catch the Tiki Lounge tonight? Killer. What radio should be and is at KFSR.
Let’s hope Monday brings another week of what KKDJ should be.

I can't believe there are people that listen as close as I do to the radio or the local stream of KKDJ. To Popcorn 1; I have seen virtually no bad mouthing of Dean here. There shouldn't be. But come on. I If the owners had their sh*t together like you say he should have been there with the right music from the start. A year ago I laughed at the joke of an attempt they made. I hear good stuff and have actual hope now with some of the music they play until it goes from sugar to sh*t in the afternoon. What's with the combination Blaze and Fox dogmeat the rest of the time though? At least when KKDJ played ac/dc in the 80s it was because they had a new record out and you could tolerate and forgive them. Not so nowadays. Rock and roll may actually be alive in Fresno again. Time will tell. The owners had a good idea with the letters KKDJ. The on air staff and music though, not so much. At least not until recently. I'm back to listening local for at least part of the day now. I gave up on what I felt was a sham last winter. If I hadn't heard about Opperman being back I wouldn't have given it a second thought. Joe Collins! Heck yeah. Don Fischer! Oh heck yeah to the fourth power!!! They may not be able to recreate those magic times in the 80s but if they did this right it could sure as hell bring back some good memories and create awesome new ones! Waiting and hoping...
